moe. is worth the dough!, January 15, 2007
"Live from the Fillmore" is a very good snapshot of a moe. show. In terms of benefits, the setlist is satisfying. Many songs from the moe. canon are featured. The highlight may be 'Timmy Tucker > Tailspin.' While not a five star setlist, the selections demonstrate music with extended improvisation and good song craftsmanship. Also, the audio quality is excellent. Currently, this is the only way to enjoy the band in a surround sound environment. The audio editor did good work; typically, the audience is enjoyed in the rear speakers while the band is heard from the front. In terms of drawbacks, the video quality is mediocre. Pixilation is apparent to the extent that "Live from the Fillmore" often looks like a good fan generated download. Fortunately, the video editing and original videography is well done -the problem seems to lie in the final transfer. Some of the interviews are informative as when the band discusses their formation. Other parts are predictable, as when the audience is described as being the sixth member. While moe. has played better shows, this is still a persuasive view of a great live band. For the uninitiated and fans alike, "Live from the Fillmore" is a compelling portrait of one of the scene's best jambands.

I can barely hear Chuck, December 27, 2006
I have to contradict the other review. I thought it was shot fine, but the sound was not good. Moe is a two guitar band and I believe the strength of the band is the way the two guitar players play off each other. On the DVD, Al is real loud, but Chuck's guitar is almost completely inaudible. This is a real big disappointment to me. I really like moe, but I would not recomend this DVD except for those who have to have it. It's a real shame.

Music solid, video sub-par, October 15, 2006
Let's start with the band. The slogan "Got moe?" is perfect (and my personalized license plate). If you get the band, than this DVD is for you. The music quality is great, with a few DTS and DD 5.1 tricks. The songs are tight and jams are quite imaginative. Video quality is sub-par. It gives the impression of a mid 80's MTV debut video. It has too much of a "video quality" and lacks the warmth of a "film quality". The scan lines are too obvious on a 55" HD monitor and detract from the viewing experience. Additionally, the viewing angles are too obscure, and typically last for only seconds before a zoom in/out, angle change, or camera change. Continuity is not there. I prefer longer image lengths and a much less sharp image - i.e. Talking Head's Stop Making Sense or String Cheese's efforts.
I'm not complaining, and love the band. I could not wait to get this DVD, and pre-ordered it from the band. It is even a limited edition copy signed by each of them. Again, I am happy just to have a DVD to accompany my 12 CDs and 100's of hours of audience recordings. I can easily look over the video issues. Overall, a very grateful moe.ron.
