4.0 out of 5 stars Should be made widely available, November 6, 2000
By Patrick Prevenas (Los Angeles, CA United States) - See all my reviews
I've been a big Corrs fan for probably a year and a half as of this writing, and it took me FOREVER to finally unearth a copy of this CD! I love "Forgiven, Not Forgotten," and the only reason this CD isn't getting 5 stars from me is because the first is still so much more distinct and powerful. But this is still an excellent album in its own right; after listening to the Special Edition for a year, it was delightful to hear the three songs that for some reason got cut when it was released ("Don't Say You Love Me," "Love Gives Love Takes," and "Intimacy"), which are all wonderful songs! And I'm thrilled at the opportunity to finally have a version of "Dreams" that I can get into... the dance mix on the Special Edition is so unmusical that it's actually intolerable (I've never been able to listen through the whole thing!). "So Young" on this original edition is delightful, but somehow lacks a bit of the punch that they gave it in the re-release. And then there's "What Can I Do"... a rather annoying a capella song in the original that is, in my opinion, the only song that received a dramatic improvement on the Special Edition. For fans who prefer the more Celtic roots that made The Corrs famous, this is definitely the CD to buy. If you prefer more American pop sounds (which pretty much anybody could produce), then go for the Special Edition. I only wish that this original version was as widely available, and not just an import; that way, those of us who perfer its musical approach would have much easier access to it and wouldn't have to pay so much for it. I was lucky enough to get mine used, actually. :) And it is basically the last hurrah for the wonderful old Celtic sound before "In Blue," which--while still a very enjoyable album--pretty much just goes straight for plain old American pop.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Of Corrs", this is the best album, if you pardon the pun !!, July 23, 2001
By A Customer
I know this CD has became harder to find, but I think we should take into consideration the two sides of the coin.

Some facts 'bout this CD version of "Talk On Corners":

***The version of 'Dreams' alone is a reason to get this record;

***It is pretty much of the same vintage as was their famous album "Forgiven Not Forgotten". Unlike the Special Edition and, for what it's worth, their album "In Blue", more pop-oriented(quite good still different), this album retains much of the Irish accents and folkish qualities that make them so unique;

***The original version of 'What Can I Do' (on the present CD) is, in my opinion, much more better than the remix on the current Special Edition album. Vocals, in particular, are much more vivid. One listen and you'll know the difference;

***At last, a good point for all the possible versions of "Talk On Corners": there is the song 'No Good For Me', enough good for me (and one of my favourite tracks), a solid rocking tune packed with a memorable presence by the melodic violin of Sharon Corr. An other good reason as to know why this CD has become a great sought-after recording of Pop Music. Incidentally, I prefer this side of the Corrs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid album, June 6, 2005
The Corrs second CD TALK ON CORNERS put the Irish group further into the pop music stratosphere. It is easily their best album so far in their career. Filled with radio friendly hits like "What Can I Do", "Only When I Sleep", "I Never Loved You Anyway", "So Young" and a great cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams". This Special Edition of the cd features their singles in remixed form. Also a bonus track, a remix of Runaway which was later rereleased as a single in 1999. Other highlights include "Don't Say You Love Me", "Hopelessly Addicted", "When He's Not Around" and "Love Gives, Love Takes". Overall a great pop album!
