Editorial Reviews

Product Description
BBE Records in conjunction with Spilt Milk is proud to release the S1 and Illmind producer collaboration project, The Art Of One Mind. This collaboration project is the birth of a musical relationship expanding from the grimy organic sounds of Illmind’s tri-state roots (New Jersey, Philly, and NYC), as well as the soulful hip-hop swing style of Texas’s own producer, S1. Split Milk is responsible for the release of The Strange Fruit Project’s albums From Devine and Soul Travellin’ (both produced by S1 and feature additional production by Illmind).

The Art Of One Mind project features an array of music from soul to R&B to Hip-Hop. Artists featured include Ghostface Killah (Wu-Tang Clan), Little Brother, El Da Sensei (formerly of The Artifacts), Chip Fu (formerly of the Fu-Shnickens), Strange Fruit Project, Supastition, Darien Brockington (Foreign Exchange), and a host of other talented artists.

The Art Of One Mind will lead off with a 12" EP including the tracks "The Broke Song" (feat. Strange Fruit Project), "Night Like This" (feat. Darien Brockington and Big Pooh of Little Brother), and "One Mind" (feat. El Da Sensei and Chip Fu).

With a variety of urban music, all beat fanatics and soul music lovers alike will talk about this compilation for quite some time.

4.0 out of 5 stars great cd but..., August 11, 2005

i've been diggin on s1 and illmind for a minute now, however amazon doesn't offer the 'explicit lyrics' version. i just received my copy in the mail and i'm a bit disappointed that all the so-called "bad words" are bleeped out. if i wanted to listen to a radio version i would turn on my radio. its difficult to get into the rhyme skills of these gifted brothas when i keep getting distracted by the censorship. and yes i'm a grown *ss man so i can listen to cussin' if i so choose. other than that the disc is quite exceptional.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unsung heroes of hip hop production, August 8, 2007
By Christopher R. Charles "Renaissance" (North Carolina (from Brooklyn)) - See all my reviews

I've been a fan of Illmind and S1 for quite some time, so this purchase was long overdue. Combined with the several Mc's featured, including Strange Fruit Project, Ken Starr, Ghostface Killa, etc, this CD showcases the production "onemind". If you are a fan of expertly chopped samples, offbeat hi-hats for that un-quantized sound, as well as crisp drum programming and melodies to compliment, pick this one up and let it ride.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent stuff, a must have for underground lovers, July 26, 2006
Illmind makes a reference to him rocking to sleep from Stevie Wonder in the inner sleave. This album is one of few hip hop albums that can rock you to sleep (in a good way). Its so chilled, cool and smooth rapping is flowing throughout. Full of loads of amazing collabos, Little brother are there, Ghostface has some input, Supastition, the Procussions and El da sensei. You can't go wrong when you buy a CD in which the featured rappers are veterans or producers themselves. The beats are full of twinkle bell, motown/jazz, and background vocals which is a recipe for intelligent underground hip hop. If you buy this and don't like it then you haven't got into underground hip hop enough, keep it, leave it a while and you'll love it.
