4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent convertible bag with lots of flexible storage, July 11, 2006
By wolper (Boston) - See all my reviews
I took a 10-day trip to Trinidad and wanted a bag that could hold enough clothes for the trip, that I could carry on the plane for the trip down and check with my extra stuff on the way back, and that wasn't difficult to lug around. I ended up buying both this bag and a convertible bag from eBags and kept this bag. The Rick Steve's bag is bigger, expandable, and has wonderful deep front pockets that will hold anything (no useless pen loops or id holders). However, the material is not fantastic--feels like elementary school backpack material--and the zippers are small and don't appear especially durable. Also the straps and waistbelt are narrower and less padded than I had hoped (the eBag had nice wide heavily padded straps). The best thing about this bag is that it seems to be able to hold huge amounts and still be small enough for the over-head compartment. The inside compression straps help achieve this and the outside straps (that don't go around the whole bag) help too. Overall, a very nice bag that I find myself using all the time.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great bag. A great price., July 20, 2006
By Travel Guide Junkie (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
This bag was so good that we bought a second one. Lived out of them for 2 1/2 weeks in Europe this summer. We also bought a set each of the Rick Steves' packing cubes, which exactly fit inside the convertible carry-on bag. Lots of compartments, thoughtfully placed, and some bonus internal cinch-sacks and a "secret" document pouch that clips into the bottom of the bag. The material is strong enough for its use and you will simply not believe how much can be packed in this bag. If you are familiar with Rick's travel philosophy (travel light and carry-on) this is the perfect bag. You will not find a bag with as many thoughtful details as this bag for twice the price. For more on Rick's travel philosophy and travel suggestions get his book Europe Through the Back Door. Invaluable.

5.0 out of 5 stars To Greece and back, August 22, 2006
By Art Smart (Philly, PA USA) - See all my reviews
I bought this carry-on suitcase to pack all of my things in for a 8 day trip to Greece. It held more than I needed and fit in the overhead baggage compartment. The backpack straps were great for carrying the suitcase through the airports and elsewhere.

There are many pockets (I didn't even use all of them). And the extra space gained from unzipping the expandable section helped me to fit in all of my purchases. Other people even commented on how nice my suitcase was.

I was impressed with how much it held, how flexible it is and how sturdy the construction. I'll purchase another as a gift for a friend who saw mine and love it.
