The popular adventure-comedy Bleach grows more complicated as it continues. Ichigo's extraordinary level of spiritual energy begins to affect his friends: Chad fights soul-devouring Hollows; Ohime's power takes the form of six tiny protector-spirits. The enmity between Ichigo and Uryu Ishida evolves as they learn more about the 200-year-old conflict between Soul Hunters and Quincys. When a monstrous Hollow known as a Menos Grande appears, Ichigo vanquishes it single-handedly. But the effort nearly destroys his body as he can't really control his enormous power; Ishida has to rescue him. Ichigo and Ishida seem to be moving toward the sort of grudgingly respectful rivalry Kazuma and Ryuho shared in s-CRY-ed. More dire problems come to the fore with the arrival of supernatural assassin Renji Abarai. He intends to kill Rukia for giving Ichigo her powers and Ichigo for exercising them: The disc ends on a classic cliff-hanger.
