A
No batteries, it sits on a charger that you just keep plugged in so it's always ready to go! It's an amazing thing how well this opener works! You will not regret this purchase!

It's rechargeable. The supplied batteries should last 4-5 years if the device is kept in the recharging base.

thank you for your responses, but my opener is very sluggish and will hardly penetrate the cork, even though it is plugged in and sitting on the charger all the time. There are tiny holes in the body of the opener that suggest another battery or batteries could be added?

A
If your unit won't penetrate a cork, you have a bad one. Contact Oster for replacement. Attempting to open the unit won't help and will only void any warranty you may still have.

It's rechargable and comes with a charger that you plug in. I always left it plugged in on the counter so it was always ready. It will open a few dozen bottles before a charge, but I just leave it in the charger all the time.

Didn't take batteries. Its always ready to go as long as the charger is plugged in. It also will hold a charge for days.
