It shipped fast and sharpens to precise point with out leaving the tip vulnerable to breakage. I am happier with this simple sharpener than my previous electric one. I only wish the container was metal instead of plastic. But for the price it is a great buy! -

Price: $4.67 (42)">.< It's So cute and convenient! I want another one!" - By LilyofTheValleyKillingbeck
This is by far the BEST pencil sharpener I've ever had. I love the cute teeny oblong design of it as an artist, it's perfect for me. I'm a fan of the bizarrely shaped and weird looking office supplies and the first time Maped and I were introduced was in 2011 in a little store in the Republic of Panama. (where stuff is really cheap there compared to here). Bought it for only $2!
And it still works like it's new. A very versatile little guy to own for anybody. So clean to use with its little latch to dump the shavings out.. I want to get another one for back up if anything were to happen to my lil' maped sharpener.
Wish stores where I lived carried these cute lil' fellas. -
"helps my kids write better" - By P. Ou
I wish I had learned about these pencils earlier...I have four kids but only the last two got to enjoy them. It helped my 4 and 6-year-olds write better easier. The sharpener is a bit small and can be easily misplaced. I found that some dollar stores have these larger caliber sharpeners for only $1. -

Wow. So many negative reviews here about broken pencil lead. Ladies and gentlemen, if you are sharpening your #2 frequently, that is the problem. A sharp point on a #2HB will break every time. The #2 is not supposed to be sharp. If you want a sharp point in order to get that thin, "skinny little facts and figures scrawl" (Cactus Tree by Joni Mitchell), use the #3. The #2 should be worn down to the wood before it is slightly re-sharpened to a new rounded point. The #2 is for creative writing. With a properly worn down point, it produces a broad, bold line. Intuitive, thoughtful, subjective thinking requires unrestricted bold strokes over a limitless white surface. If you are the analytical type, your objectivity requires lined paper and the clear, thin, legible line of the #3. I always work out new ideas with a pencil and plain paper. ... full review -

This pencil is great and definitely helps my son hold his pencil correctly. I too need to find a sharpener that it will fit in. -

Good product! It works well. There are three sharpeners and all seem to work well. One for pencils, one for colored pencils, and one jumbo that fits my child's jumbo triangular shaped colored pencils. -

My class now has their own Seuss sharpener and don't have to use the permanent sharpener and get out of their seat; They will take them home at the end of the school year. Good quality and very colorful. -

This lead holder (read that right: this shouldn't be marketed as a "mechanical pencil") is perfect for any artist or drafter. It's lightweight, but sturdy enough to stand up to years of usage. And with few moving parts, the only reason I'd replace this is if I abused or misplaced it.
As other reviewers point out, you'll need a separate lead holder for each type of lead you want to use. I bought three: one for 2H, HB, and 2B leads. I keep them all in the "Accurasee Art Pencil Case, Bag, Pouch for Artist Sketchbooks" which also conveniently has a pouch for the spare lead containers.
This was actually the second holder I ordered. The first was "Staedtler Mars Technical Mechanical Pencil Set, 780SBK" which has a handy spare lead holder and a great eraser.
