Can't believe this video is $30.00, September 20, 2003

My best friend bought this video recently and was just as dissapointed as some of the reviewers here. I thought she was exagerating, so I borrowed it and could not believe how absolutely awful it is. You don't have to be in the film business to understand how unprofessional and bad it is. I'll not go into any details as other reviewers here have said it all and very well. I'll only say that I am sooooooo glad that I did not waste my money on it.

SLOPPY CRAFTSMANSHIP, August 8, 2003

As a videographer who has produced in the film industry for years I cannot beleive this video could ever win any type of award. The person who performed editing and titleing cannot speak or spell English even near properly. Lighting and production borders on being terrible, and lighting is so poor that in a number of cases you cannot see what the teacher is doing. There is also no variation in techniques offering the viewer different methods which could be used on different subjects. There are much better videos on the market for the same price.

Very disappointed - it was painful to watch!, May 29, 2003

I bought this item because of the other ratings. Boy was I disappointed! I wish I could get my money back. At first I thought there was something wrong with my VCR - the lighting is so bad, the "models" have deep shadows under their eyes. I'm not sure if it was bad lighting or they were supposed to look like that, but it was horrible.
Not even 3 minutes into the viewing, there are typos on the screen. Be sure to "thoroly" or something like that instead of "thoroughly". And that was not the only one - there were other misspellings as well. Plus there were these goofy hearts and fonts used from the 80's.
Even if I could excuse the poor editing job & lack of professionalism, the video shows ONE way to put on makeup. And really, who rims her the inside of her eyelids with black eyeliner!!?? my friend did this in 9th grade but that was in 1986! Come on, people. Get with the millenium. And, if that wasn't bad enough, what about people trying to bring out their eyes? Rimming them in black sure doesn't open them up.
I used to have a Linda Carter makeup video that was wonderful. I was hoping for something like that, but with some more options on it - like different techniques & tips. This sure wasn't it!! I'll try the Beaute Made Simple DVD next and see if that helps (the book is nice).
I'm giving this 3 stars only because they did, in fact, apply makeup to a person in the video. I guess that should count for something. If it was twelve dollars, that would be one thing. But thirty dollars? I'll try to get half that on eBay for it. What a waste & disappointment.
