More About the Author

Anjanette Delgado began her career as a journalist, working for outlets such as NBC, CNN, Univisión and Telemundo, covering presidential coups, elections, Olympics, the 9/11 terrorist attacks, both Iraq wars, which she executive produced, and winning an Emmy in 1994 for her human-interest series "Madres en la lejanía," about the plight of Latino mothers who leave their own children behind and come to the United States to work as undocumented nannies.

She has written for NPR, Vogue, and Urban Latino, among other outlets. In 2002, she wrote and developed the sitcom "Great in Bed" for HBO Latam. Her first novel is The Heartbreak Pill (the Latino International Book Award's first prize pick for Best Romance in English, a Triple Crown Winner for Best Romance in Spanish the following year, and first prize for Best Romance in Latino Literacy's "Books into Movies" competition in 2010). She has an MFA in Creative Writing from Florida International University, regularly teaches writing for the Florida Literary Arts Center, and lives in Miami with her husband, and her Mini-Daschund, Chloe. her favorite quote is Winston Churchill's "If you're going through hell, keep going."

Me encantó esta novela. Me hizo reír y llorar, y me sentí bien identificada. El personaje principal es una científica que busca crear una cura para el mal amor. Tan pronto comencé a leerlo, empecé a verme reflejada en las páginas. La novela se adentra con humor en la esfera de los sentimientos de nosotras las mujeres, y combina de manera bien divertida elementos de ficción y realidad al basar la trama en descubrimientos científicos acerca de lo que pasa en nuestro cerebro cuando nos enamoramos y sufrimos por amor. Altamente recomendable!

Es un libro ligero, ameno y facil de leer, toca de manera profunda y poetica el mal de amor. Me identifique facilmente con la protagonista, me rei muchisimo, me encanto me hizo pensar. Lo recomiendo!! Espero que el proximo libro de la autora sea del mismo calibre.

A great mix of humor, sarcasm, irony, heartbreak and romance. A fun read for someone studying Spanish, like myself, although my Kindle Spanish dictionary couldn't translate all the expletives!

Con personajes creíbles, la autora dibuja una trama harto experimentada por muchas mujeres que no saben cómo procesar el abandono. La protagonista no puede ser más humana en este sentido; seguramente muchas mujeres podrán identificarse con el personaje desde la primera página. Bien manejado, con sentido del humor y con personajes secundarios, como el padre y su pareja, que abordan el tema de la homosexualidad con tino. Recomendable.
