Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) is a hard plastic that requires harsh chemical softeners, such as phthalates, for use in waterproof raincoats. In 2003 we discovered that phthalates were shown to disrupt reproductive functions and cause other developmental problems, so we removed all PVC and phthalates from our rainwear line.

My 3-yr old loves his umbrella. I like it because the open & close function is very smooth and easy for little ones. I'm sure the umbrella is vulnerable to wind as all umbrellas are, but it seems adequately sturdy and has held up to being used as a cane.

Very cute and it does close nicely without there a chance of getting their fingers caught but after one day one of the spokes came away from the material as its just tied with thin cotton. The spokes themselves also bend really easily so not sure how someone has said its sturdy? Many we just got a bad one?

My daughter LOVED this umbrella. She picked out the whale design online and was so excited when it arrived. Then, ten minutes later, it broke. One of the spokes came out and ripped through the material. I tried to repair it, and gave it back to her, but it just got worse and I had to take it away b/c of the sharp points. So disappointing!

lasted for 2 years of hard play/use
ours lasted for 2 years of hard play/use by our toddler. It is reasonable durable and I like the rounded plastic ends of the spokes for safety reasons. Happy I can replace it!
