I have the XBOX 360 Core System w/component cables. On the back of the base where is hooks into the xbox 360 it gives you the option of "TV" or "HDTV". It works when set to "TV" but I get no picture when switched to "HDTV" any idea why? I have Samsung LN52A750 if that matters...... PLEASE HELP!

what type of connection are you using? what type of settings are you using under your system settings when you run xbox 360? If you just bought it and it just has the composite hookups, you will not be able to run HD through that hardware. Microsoft unfortunately makes you purchase another item to use your xbox to its fullest potential especially if you go the component route needing a optical cable for full 5.1 output

I have attempted to switch all of the settings once im one the XBOX and it still does not view when I flip it to HDTV as opposed to TV. I have bought VGA cables and there is no real difference in picture. What can I do so it displays ATLEAST in 720 if not 1080i. I do not need a perferct picture like I get out of my PS3 but I would like it to atleast compete because right now it is horrible.

I am responding to this post because i was having the same issues and did exactly what you did! My Xbox 360 Came with this cable but i had never had the need to switch from TV to HD since i only had a reg Tv. I recently got a vizio 26" Lcd HDTV, hooked up my 360 to it and it was nice on tv setting. When i flipped the switch to HD my screen also when dark and so back to Tv setting. I went through my xbox settings and changed every possible resolution i could one at a time to see if that would work but each time the screen just kept going black so i just purchased an HDMI Cable and hooked it up to my tv and xbox and pulled the HD AV cable out, immediately i noticed the difference very crisp and clear and i was able to change it to 480i 720p 1080i 1080p (there was one or more i dont remember what they were, but that worked for me i dont know if this helps or not.) Just wanted to share!

Do you have to already have HD set up on your TV for this to work?
