I love my popcorn popped in bacon grease (I know...but it is soooo good!) Would it work in the Stir Crazy?

Absolutely you can, no problem. If you read the instruction book for the Stir Crazy, they even mention it in one of the recipes for Bacon and Blue Cheese popcorn.

Yes. Other uses for bacon grease can be found online at: http://www.southernplate.com/2012/08/bacon-grease-uses-and-photo-gallery-of-your-bacon-grease-jars.html.

It should work ... just be aware that the bacon flavor could linger in the non-stick lining, and could affect the taste of future batches, even if you use vegetable oil.. If you are popping corn for caramel corn, the flavor might be not what you expect.

I suppose so. You put 2 tablespoons of oil in first so I suppose that you could put in 2 tablespoons of bacon grease. Might have to adjust the amount of bacon grease you use though.

I would imagine so, the base simply gets the oil hot enough to cause the water within the kernal to turn to steam. I presume the bacon grease would get hot enough even though the base is calibrated for oil.

I don't see why not, especially if you strain all the larger particles out of the grease (they might tend to get caught under the stirring bar). I'd try it at least once.

In an emergency (popcorn emergency), I once used shortening and it popped the popcorn just fine. Bacon grease would probably be similar (but have a better flavor).

I've never done it but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
