I just got my new mat and used it at a weekend class. I wasnt going to use it at first since I wanted to give it a chance to air out prior to use. However my old mat kept shifting on me as we were on carpet so I decided to try my new mat. Yes it is heavy but not rediculously so. The size is great and it stuck and gave me so much more stabiltiy.... two thumbs up..

Expensive but if you practice a lot I think it would be worth it

I've been teaching yoga for 13 years. For the last few months, I'd noticed (and watched) all the promo videos that were being passed around the yoga community for this special mat. And I thought, "Seriously, what can be SOOO different about this one? I've been through the gamut of mats and so far the ONLY one I found that works for me is the kind w/ the twine weaved into it that keeps me from slipping. But even THAT mat has its drawbacks... (think it's the original eco mat), it DOES shed like crazy, it's kinda rough on the skin, has a strong rubber odor, and takes a while to break in." So I figured, "What The Hell!".

This revolution mat was actually a good price, compared to other mats I've tried that are much more limited in space.

I ordered one for my husband and for myself... and we waited patiently.

This is the CADILLAC (or the Ferrari) of yoga mats. Holy moly! Sticky as all get out, durable, no strong odor, doesn't move around on the floor like Jade Yoga mats do, sturdy, wide and safe! Good colors too! I got the teal blue color and he got the grey. We LOVE them. I actually FEEL stronger on it. I know that sounds funny but the sense of stability allows me to go quite a bit deeper in my asanas.

Buy this mat!!

I bought this mat because of all the great reviews and many said that they did not slip on this mat. Maybe it's just my body chemistry, but the mat's rubber warms and with the heat generated through movement, my hands and feet both develop a thin layer of sweat after the first 5-10 minutes of using the mat and I slip all over the place.

I used it at home for the first week where my practice is more deliberate and slow-paced and it was bearable. But when I took it to a studio I had to run and grab a studio mat so that I was able to hold poses and finish the class without compromising my body alignment and risking injury when I'd want to push forward and instead was slipping back (one example).

This mat is awesome in every other aspect, in my opinion. The size is great - I'll miss that - and the construction of it seems to be of high quality. It's quite heavy and will likely last years. I'm really disappointed I had to return it.

This mat has totally transformed my practice. I never thought that a mat could do that. And it is in fact the result of John Friend's impetus to create a mat that my practice could truly fit on that has done the trick. The first week there was a touch of slippage and fairly strong smell of natural rubber which has all but now faded. I applaud prAna and John's commitment to creating a sustainable option. Viva La Revolution...

I'll join the chorus on this one. This is simply the finest yoga mat I have ever used. The extra width is a big plus and I find it stickier and more "positive" in feel than any other mat I've tried. It weighs a ton! Very solid state. Imagine a Mercedes S600 Sedan compared with a VW Passat - you get the picture.

I've used a Manduka black mat for ten years and just bought the Revolution mat. I've been using my new Revolution Yoga Mat for two weeks and love it! I feel more solidly connected to the Earth; in fact, I feel like I am a part of the Earth while I'm doing my practice. The Revolution is sticky and holds me in place so I also get a deeper stretch on cobra, down dog and other poses. The only thing I miss about my Manduka mat is the extra cushion (that mat is a bit thicker than the revolution). I do feel more grounded on my new mat and also appreciate the spaciousness so I can have my hands wider in poses like down dog and still have my hands stuck to the mat. Because it is thinner I feel a deeper connection with the Earth and my handstands and balance poses are more stable. I highly recommend this mat; it has literally transformed my practice.

I purchased the Revolution mat and it is by far, my favorite mat.

It is the perfect size, and my hands never slide.

I have been practicing yoga for over ten years and have had my share of mats...this one is THE BEST!! ( I love the green color, too!)

I have owned or practiced on all of the eco-claimed mats and the Prana Revolution Mat is the best of them all...

Shedding: this mat doesn't shed... it doesn't even move when you come in and out of "hanuman" posture

Smell: if you practice on it for a WEEK the natural rubber smell airs out... just like new car smell it goes away if you use it

Bag: the size is a gift you will love the mat so much that you'll want to buy a bag or velcrow strap to take good care of it... i used zip ties for the first month before i invested in a carrier.

I either practice "lightly on the earth" or on The Revolution Mat... these are the only two options now that I've been spoiled by my Revolution...

This is a beautiful mat that does two things really well. The extra width allows for so much more space to practice. And, the thinness keeps it from feeling puffy while providing enough cushion and support for the seated poses. I love that these details almost let you forget the mat is there, allowing you to focus on your body. What I know of prAna as a company is all good things, and I've always been a fan of their clothing. This mat seems to be another great product from them.

What I love about this mat (besides the sustainable construction) is that I don't feel constricted by it. Not that it is a big deal to have my pinky fingers off the mat in down dog, but it's so nice to be able to feel completely supported by the Revolution Mat. The transitions from right to left in Vasistasana can be done without repositioning my bottom foot and hand. Seated in Upavista Konasana, I can have my heels on the mat instead of the slippery floor, and can hug to the midline with my shins way more effectively. For someone like me with a hypermobile SI joint, this is crucial in the forward bends. I used a black mat for years before discovering this, and even though it's thinner, my knees are still happy with the cushioning. It's more stable than the thicker mat though, so balancing poses are easier - I used to step off the mat onto the floor before. I feel like there's more room to groove, more room to play, more room to breathe on the Revolution Mat.
