I love the texture of this mat, especially if doing hot yoga or ashtanga. My only concern is that after 6 mos. the foot and hand spots have completely disintegrated. I leave a mess and I'm sad that it won't last, especially at this price.

If you practice vigorous yoga on a regular basis..., March 1, 2009
This review is from: prAna E.C.O. Sticky Mat (Apparel)
...don't waste your money on this mat! I practice and teach vinyasa style yoga 5-6 days a week and the Prana ECO sticky mat I had wore out in about 6 months.
I would not recommend this mat for the following reasons:
I have since worn tracks (two parallel grooves) down the middle of my mat.
The mat is crumbling and falling apart.
This mat no longer retains its shape in poses like warrior II/extended side angle (my feet press the edges of the mat out into distorted shapes) which makes it very difficult to achieve a sense of connection in standing poses through my feet. I have noticed that my knees become sore when doing any standing pose in the warrior II family while using this my ECO mat. I realized that if I stood in poses like warrior II where I needed to bear my body weight on the front leg flexed knee, that the mat would stretch out in the direction of my front foot. This would cause me to either grip through my front leg hip or the front leg foot and made it really hard to keep a safe and proper knee alignment in poses like warrior II since my front leg foot would drift out from under my front leg knee as the mat distorted and stretched out.
This mat has become very slippery even after numerous attempts at scrubbing and even soaking the mat in a mild detergent. I sweat alot when I practice and so I found myself having to wash the mat down after each practice, and I think all this washing may have sped up the processes of this mat breaking down.
This mat was firm and had great support when I first purchased it, but has since become too squishy for my hands and feet.
This mat is great if you want a more environmentally friendly mat, or if you practice a mellow style of yoga a couple times a week, or if you need a pretty floor mat to stand on while doing dishes!
I can honestly say that if you have the money or practice yoga on a regular basis get the Manduka Black Mat Pro. It's heavy, takes a while to break in, but it is more durable and provides a solid foundation on which to build a lifetime practice.

Don't bother, January 29, 2008
This mat is excellent in theory- PVC free and environmentally stable. Sadly, however, that is about all it provides. Bulky set aside, the mat is slippery. My wrists have been soar due to the way I have to hold myself in downward dog seeing as there is little to no traction, and my hands slowly slide up the mat. As I slip, the mat scrunches and shifts in position instead of laying still on the floor. I am very unhappy with this mat, and would highly discourage purchashing it. I feel that I am slowly developing a wrist injury due to using this mat, which is unfortunate, seeing as I have a daily practice and had planned to use this mat for the next year to year and a half.
