i'd like to give a "Prime" membership as a gift, but can't figure out how to do that.

I would love to do this too, especially with the new lending program. Would be great to get family members with a Kindle a year's worth of books they can borrow...

I have tried as well...Looked for a e-mail to address the question and finally settled for selecting a "gift card" which has the kindle card on it. You would think they would try and capitalize a bit more on this program.

I also would like to give Amazon Prime membership as gifts to my children. I am giving them Kindle Fire and the prime membership wouls be the ideal addition (and I'd be all done shopping!)

so what's the verdict people? can we buy a gift prime membership? is there a link to do this?

i just spoke with customer service, and no, they do not have a mchanism in place that would allow for "gifting" prime membership. apparently you can't even purchase one with a gift card :-/

I also think this is something that Amazon needs to get its act in gear on. I'm very disappointed that I can't give prime membership as a gift. Amazon is missing out, because I'll end up spending my money elsewhere, which is really a shame.

I'd also like to gift a membership to someone. Ah well...

Yes I needed 3 of these...guess it'll be something else from somewhere else.

Wow thats a big miss by amazon if you cannot gift a Prime membership. I have been searching for the past 30 minutes and looks like it is not possible. Since I just ordered a Kindle Fire figured I would gift the prime membership as well but I guess not...wow usually amazon is smarter than that!

So annoying! I'm giving my mom the kindle fire as a gift and wanted to have it shipped BEFORE Christmas so she could enjoy it on the long plane ride she's taking to visit me for the holidays. She is not the most, shall we say, tech savvy and I wanted it completely loaded and ready for her with the prime membership so she didn't have to bother with it all. Can't do it. So I thought 'ok, I'll get her an amazon gift card and she can purchase the membership with that. Nope. It's so tacky to tell her to purchase it herself and I'll reimburse her when I see her. She's a mom, so of course when the time comes she won't take the cash from me. FAIL AMAZON!!!! This is sooooo a flaw you need to work out! It's a way for you to make MORE money. There should definitely be a gift bundle that includes a fully loaded and ready fire! Grrrrrr.

Please Amazon - figure out how to gift an Amazon Prime membership. Seems pretty easy.

Yes... I imagine that they will soon include this, it doesn't really make sense for them not to. However, it most likely won't be soon enough for Christmas. What I did was I just had my mom log into her account for me and I used my credit card to pay for prime for her. Cumbersome way to do it, but, it worked.
