This book is amazing!! it contains all the songs from the show and is very detailed in the score. The arrangement of the piano accompaniment is the exact same thing like what you hear in the recording. There's no melody in the piano part, so it's not for piano solo. Every single notes/spoken lines of every chorus voices of every song is included.

The first 8 pages are beautiful colored photos from each of the songs in the show.
"Hello" - great arrangement for piano and quite simple to play, at the beginning of the song where there isn't an accompaniment, they have the melody in the piano (all the door bells sound are included). There are also the names of every Elder that sing this song, telling us who sing each part/line, very awesome. Starting in the key of C and modulate to Db key half way to the end.

"Two by Two" - a fun song to play, all the Elder's names, spoken lines, and 'clap' signs are included. The song is in the key of Bb, Eb, Db, Eb again, Ab and ends on E.

"You and Me (But Mostly Me)" - powerful ballad/bright rock, the piano accompaniment is amazing! The song is in the key of C,E and Db (very 'Wicked' like accompaniment.)

"Hasa Diga Eebowai" - all the chorus voice-parts are included in details (men and woman chorus part is separated). The song is in the key of F# (don't be discouraged by many sharps, the accompaniment part is quite simple) and ends in G.

"Turn It Off" - quite challenging to play during the tap dance part of the song. All the Elder's names are included. There is also a notation for the woodblock. The song switched around between F and Gb keys.

"I am Here For You" - Very easy lullaby type song in the key of A.

"All-American Prophet" - since there is no accompaniment during the talking/speech so they include the notation of the drums to help us keep track of the beat/tempo. Every part of every character is included. The song is in the key of Ab, Db, Bb and B.

"Sal Tlay Ka Sity" - awesome accompaniment for this ballad, quite simple and very beautiful. The song is in the key of C, Ab, A and back to C.

"Man Up" - my favorite song! this song rocks, the accompaniment rocks! every single voice part is included. Towards the end you'll have like 7 lines (Cunningham, Price, Nabulungi, Elders, Ugandans and 2 for piano accompaniment). May seem hard to follow the accompanied line but really isn't hard at all. The song is in the key of G and A.

"Making Things Up Again" (Ab) "Spooky Mormon Hell Dream" (eb, c#, d, f) - like the other songs, every voice part is included. Spooky Mormon Hell Dream is one of the hardest song to play.

"I Believe" - all the spoken lines and chorus parts are included. This one is also quite a challenge to play. The song starts in the key of F and ends on Gb (the hardest part of the song).

"Baptize Me" - Sweet pop ballad, all the spoken lines are included. The song is in the key of C, G, C and E.

"I am Africa" - All the parts/Elder's names are included. Short and not too hard. In the key of A, eb and G.

"Joseph Smith American Moses" - not really a fan of this song. Because there's hardly any piano accompaniment. Like other songs, everything you hear in the recording is included, There's a notation line for African drumming Djembe and war drums.

"Tomorrow is a Latter Day" - in the keys of G, C, F#, A, C. This is one of the hardest piece. The "Hello (Reprise)" is included in here in the key of D and the piano accompaniment is the same as the first Hello.

The only down thing about this book is that there isn't an encore "Tomorrow is a Latter Day (Reprise)" included in here (like in the recording). If they include that reprise/finale in here too, this book will be perfect!

Anyway, I still love this book and it's worth every cent I spent, amazon has a great deal on this one! you will not be disappointed! (unless you're looking for piano solo, this one is not for you.)

Several notable things about this vocal selections book that sets it apart from most:

1) It includes ALL the songs found on the cast album. Yes it makes for a larger, more expensive book, but I'd much rather pay extra for a more complete book than have someone else decide what the most popular songs are.

2) The piano part is a real accompaniment, so you have the choice of accompanying a singer or adding a piano melody on your own for a solo performance.

3) The arrangements are exactly the same as what's on the cast album. I haven't seen the show so I don't know if any cuts were made from the full score to create the cast recording, but usually that's inevitable unless it's a multi-CD set. Since this book matches the recording, it makes it easier to prepare a song for an audition or cabaret performance. I didn't check every song, but for the most part I believe they're also in the same keys. (As someone who has played numerous auditions, I've seen my share of singers who have only sung with a CD and never a live piano, and are surprised that the sheet music is 2 steps higher or lower than what they're familiar with.)

3a) And yes, we really do want all those dance breaks and interludes from the cast recording in there, Mr. or Ms. Editor Person, so thank you. We can always make cuts on our own if necessary.

All of these things, by the way, vastly reduce the incentive and desire to seek out bootleg photocopies and poorly-scanned PDFs of Broadway scores. Often it's not people wanting to put on unauthorized productions of shows, but simply wanting a copy of the sheet music that matches what they're used to hearing on the cast album. Good on Alfred Publishing for making this editorial decision -- other publishers should do the same!

Probably my only other wish would be if this were made available with a spiral binding so we wouldn't need to mutilate the book to get the pages to sit flat, but I realize there are a host of logistical reasons why this is a pain for both printers and vendors since spiral-bound books aren't as easy to stock, and can more easily be damaged.

Of course the content of the show and score itself is up to each one's personal preferences (I happen to enjoy it), but I felt the need to comment that as a book of musical vocal selections, this is an excellent example of how they should be done.

First the good. The songs are pretty accurate, though not for solo piano. This is unfortunate, but not unexpected. That said, I'm having a blast playing all my BoMM favorites, driving my wife nuts, "I am Africaaa!"

Now the bad, it's a paper book with a glued spine. I really hate when they do this. Spiral bound these please! Unless you photocopy the pages it's pretty much worthless as you have to hold the book open with a chip clip and with three staves a page, you'll never be able to flip through them easily and you'll ruin the book trying.

I'd like to give it a higher rating for the music, but not being able to use the book without copying and printing is pretty frustrating. So, I'll only give it three stars. That said, I belieeeeeeve that one day manufactures will make their piano books that are spiral bound!

This book is a must-have for anyone who is a fan of "The Book of Morman". It has all of the songs. The arrangements are not terribly difficult. The arrangements are written as accompaniment and as such are not suitable for a solo pianist. Even if you don't play piano it's a ton of fun just singing along to the CD. Well worth the price!

This book is amazing, and I love that it has all of the songs in the musical. My only issue is that it will take a long time to break in and is hard to hold open, even with a clip. Otherwise, it is all good.

This seems to match all of the songs on the cast alum with clear indications of which characters are singing when. Reading it while listening to the CD made me notice things, particularly in the background voices.

Of course the show is awesome, but this review is about this book. It is thorough, containing nearly all the musical numbers in the show. It includes the critical spoken lines. The layout is perfect. The included photos are of extremely high quality. Overall, I have zero compaints.

Great quality, not too challenging to play. The pictures in it are a nice touch. My only thought - it's really really thick. If you don't have a way to keep the pages open, you might want to invest in a clip or something. Great music though! Definitely worth purchasing :)

This is a great music book for those who want to learn how to play songs from the hit musical the Book Of Mormon! Please note - the lyrics are VERY offensive! But now you can sing along to your favorite songs :)
