I love Molly O'Neill but. . .
on February 7, 2011
I love this cookbook. It is beautifully done and so fun to read. However, I wonder if the recipes have all been tested. Some are intuitively bizarre, for example the cornbread I made tonight. 8 cups of flour? and then it says to mix with a few strokes? It is a dry mess. Then to "pour" the batter into the pan? I had to press it and spread it. I reread and read the recipe. It isn't easy to find whole wheat pastry flour and then the whole thing is just odd. I was skeptical from the start. I think it should be 2 cups of each, not 4 cups of each, however, a typo in a cook book this acclaimed is unforgivable and makes me wary of trying other recipes. I have had some hit or miss problems but I thought they were just a question of taste. This recipe is a weird mess of cooking physics that just doesn't work. If I am wrong, someone please correct me.
