Video is useful for illustrating family intervention,

"How to Stop The One You Love From Drinking and Using Drugs" (the video) is useful for illustrating the process of family intervention under the guidance of a professional counselor. It also provides a means of facilitating group discussion, but I would not recommend its use by an untrained facilitator. Artistically, the sound is very good, as is the camera work. The clothing styles date the video as older than 1988, and the portrayal of a U.S. Marine in dress uniform with hair down to his collar is distracting.I have used and seen the video many times with discussion groups. I am a substance abuse counselor with a drinking driver treatment program, and I check it out of the Blockbuster Video collection of Community Interest videos at no charge......Fred Shaughnessy, CADC |
