2.0 out of 5 stars *~*A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED IN THIS~*~*
My 4 year old daughter received this as a Christmas gift and she loves Doll houses. She has played with it for about 30 minutes and then put it away! She much rather play with her Sweet Streets Fisher-price doll house sets...she has the whole town and seems to love them...

Maybe getting her more piece will make her want to play with this oversized dollhouse....We are...

My two-year-old daughter received this for her birthday & it was a hit with every child, boys included. It is bigger than the regular Loving Family dollhouse so that'll be a plus when we buy more rooms to furnish it (2 of the 3 sides have 3 floors). We started with the bathroom (she immediately noticed the little potty chair for her)& jumpin'on the bed set (the bed makes a "boing" sound when jumped on) & Dusty the horse (the house comes with a small pony) These items were enough for her to start with including the very basic furniture the house came with. We don't use the swing (reviews on the other house mentioned it always falls off) or the blonde set of figures. I bought the hispanic family (the families come with a mom, dad, sister & baby brother) to depict my husband & daughter and the Asian family for me. It's great that several nationalities are available, although now we've got plenty of extra figures. She carries "our family" around everywhere (if they aren't riding in the Talking Van we bought, also an excellent buy)-it's great to see her pretend they are us. She constantly plays with this, although not for too long without wanting me to play with her. So much of their real life can be "played" here so it has great teaching potential. This house folds up but really isn't portable, but the van travels well. The stable is kind of separate so it's great for several kids to play together, yet apart; our boy friends play with the horses and daddy doll. The front of the house has 2 porches so it's another area for playing. This house, like other FP products is definitely toddler proof and one can gradually add rooms. I can't wait to have another child and get my daughter the nursery set and bring the baby out to play with (even though they all seem to be boys) I've visited Amazon, several ToysRUs stores, and even department stores and they never carry the same thing nor the whole line of Loving Family products so I would recommend buying what you see/like & save it for future gifts. Any extra pieces that don't fit into our lifestyle or don't fit in the house go in a box. No assembly required except to snap the gates to the sides of the house and to put the stickers on (I didn't get instructions for placement so I looked at the picture on the box or placed them wherever I wanted) I would assemble this the night before & make it the last gift given because it'll be hard to break all the kids away from it! For an only child I wouldn't buy it any earlier than 2, otherwise it's okay for younger children who will learn from their older siblings. We spend less time watching tv & I enjoy playing with the dollhouse too. This is definitely worth the investment & I foresee this lasting for a very long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mom has fun too, November 17, 2001

This is a great doll house. We bought it for my daughter's 3rd birthday, because she had outgrown the small Fisher Price dollhouse (which was a great 'starter home'). Our daughter loves it & plays with it several evenings a week. If this is a Christmas present-definitely open it and get it ready for play. I had opened my daughter's-just to get a closer look & discovered all the stickers that come with it. It took me some time to get all the stickers done & I know my daughter wouldn't have had the patience to wait until it was done. It is such a wonderful toy and having it 'ready to play' with was such a plus. It is a fairly large toy, but the way it folds up allows it to occupy only a small storage space. We are having fun adding to it a little at a time, which adds to the longevity of this toy. I know she will play with this for years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very nice dollhouse for very little money., December 31, 2001

Considering most dollhouses start at $100 or more, I was very happy to find this "Loving Family" dollhouse by Fisher Price in a price range that leaves some money to buy furniture!

The dollhouse is 100% plastic, but is fairly well made and easy and safe for my four year old daughter to play with. And play with it she does! We bought her quite a bit of furniture to go along with it, and she enjoys arranging the furniture and playing house with the small family of dolls that were included.

If you are considering this dollhouse as a present, I highly recommend buying many of the play furniture pieces as possible, since the only furniture that comes with this house is a sofa!

Overall, I've been very pleased with this product from Fisher-Price, and I do hope they continue to provide more accessories and toy furniture to go along with it.

This is a toy that any little girl would love, and it's at a price that's very affordable for most families.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Dollhouse, November 24, 2001
By A Customer
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
My daughter received this for her 3rd birthday and she just loves it! It gets played with EVERY day, and is her NO. 1 choice for what she wants Grandma and friends to play with her when they visit. It is constructed well, with extra thoughts put in, like, the stairs flip up, so the "family members" can access the third floor. The first design of this house, about 7 or 8 years ago didn't have that. (I had bought that one for my niece). Other "extras" that most dollhouses overlook: a bathroom, kitchen appliances with doors that open and close, plenty of rooms to house each family member, and decorative labels that depict things a real house would have, such as dressers, plants, welcome mat...

Just a few complaints...the older model folded up more compactly than this one does; the horse is supposed to whinny when it faces a family member, but you really have to wiggle them around to get the right angle for it to work; and finally, I think they could include just a little more furniture than they do. I realize that they want you to buy more furniture sets, but the older model gave you enough starter pieces for the child to start pretending. You get almost nothing with this. They could add a baby cradle or high chair, or maybe a bed...My daughter's birthday is in October, and we've promised her additional furniture sets from Santa, but that's a long wait for a 3 year old. Still, she absolutely loves it, sparse furniture and all. All in all, a good buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A huge hit for everyone!!, November 19, 2001
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this for my daughters 3rd birthday and it's been a HUGE hit. She loves playing with all the people, and having them cook supper, ride the horse, take naps, play with the baby and especially rearrange the furniture. I would recommend this for a girl or a little boy. My 2 year old niece, as well as my 5 and 7 year old sons love this toy. My sons like playing the daddy character. I hope they come out with more accessories for boys. I plan on getting the car and camper with the barbeque grill in it so the boys can play with it more. I find myself playing with it with the kids and really enjoying myself. The only problem is that it could be addicting buying all the accessories!! I can't wait to add to it. Luckily they sell the rooms in sets, a 3 room set, and 2 room sets, so that will save some money. You'll definitely want to get the nursery, bedroom and bathroom sets. We bought the baby nursery set and my daughter really loves the crib that plays lullaby music. I'd like to buy the townhouse and other Loving Family dollhouses so that our family can have neighbors! Definitely a great toy, worth every bit of the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great starter dollhouse--don't expect a lot of extras, November 7, 2002
By
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This is an unusually nice dollhouse, and the attention to detail is superb. My 5-year-old loves it and spends endless hours playing with this very interesting little family and their home and stable.

However, be forewarned that the description on the box is a little misleading. It takes a LONG time to put this together and get it play-ready. I would set aside a minimum of one solid hour to assemble, place stickers, etc. before handing it over to a child. If you have an impatient little one, consider preassembling everything before presenting it. Also, the box text implies this set is complete, but there are very few items of furniture. If your dream dollhouse comes complete with several rooms of furniture, this ain't it. You get about one item per room. You'll pay extra--quite a lot extra, actually, for completer pieces. I guess that's the nature of these things, but the company could have been much more forthcoming about what is and isn't included with this set.

Still, it's a solid value and it's very well designed and constructed. Compared to Barbie's Dream House, this set is a bargain!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not just for little girls!! :-) Our sons love it too!!, November 5, 2001
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
We purchased this doll house for our sons, ages 2 1/2 and 17 months. The reasoning behind it was that our son, who attends a Preschool class absolutely loved this @ school. We decided that it would be nice for even little boys to learn how a family is supposed to work..
I mean, even dads take care of their children, right? So why not learn what a family does -- through play?

The only thing I wished is that the toy makers would realize that little boys like some girl toys and little girls like some boy toys. I mean, I loved cars when I was little, but I also liked dolls, tea sets, etc...It's just allowing a childs imagination to grow to it's fullest potential.

I don't think there is anything wrong with children, both boys and girls, sharing toys..and learning various things...

I wished they would come out with one for a boy..in blue perhaps..and also maybe even add things like a garage so that the dad can "work" on the car, or build things on the house...and maybe a store, like a home depot where the father can go and shop...

Things like that.. :-)

Of course the kid (3.75 Years old) was thrilled. Showing her the box, I heard her gasp for air and her voice went up an octave. She had been hounding my wife at the store. The quality is pretty good. But... and this is a big BUT! The set came with practically no furniture to speak of. In fact, I felt a bit sorry for the Kid as she tried to play with it but had only two seats for three figures and very little for them to do. I suggest you buy some furniture to go with it. I just finished buying some now.

This is the cutest dollhouse for little girls. We bought one for a little girl and were amazed at the quality. The little people are just the right size for the house and the colors are very soft. The furniture fits is a tight fit in the house but can be taken out and played with as well. Very Cute! A real hit with little girls - especially the 2 year old we bought it for!!!

I strongly recommend this dollhouse for your children. We gave this dollhouse to our daughter for her 3rd birthday and she absolutely adores it. We bought a lot of the furniture accessories and horses so she can change out things. It keeps her entertained for hours. I love listening to her quietly talking to the dolls calling them mommy and daddy and her brother's name. This is one I highly recommend spending the money on ~ it is definitely worth it!
