Bags for this vac are hard to find, BUT...Just go to Lowes Hardward store and ask them to special order them for you. Less than $7.00 for a package of 2 and no shipping or handling costs! You'll need the catalog number 919-64-00.

I've never been disappointed by Shop-Vac products and the All Around Plus is no exception. I finally had to part with two ancient 1.5 hp vacs (over 15 years old). They still worked fine but I wanted to take advantage of the new features and design with this unit. The biggest problem with the old vacs is that they tended to tip over on the small casters, had short cords and no place to store attachments. The All Around Plus has large wheels, will not tip over, has very long cord and plenty of storage for attachments. It's perfect for the around the house, garage, and basement. Plenty of power and all the features you need in a shop vacuum.

For all those people complaining about the bags not being available ..

Good grief ! Almost any bag from many upright bagged vacuum cleaners will work,
including Hoover type A and Y .. There may be some bags out there where the orifice
is too large, but it is nothing a little duct tape won't cure..

That said, this is a very powerfull well appointed vac ..

I have this vac for a few years now, and it's very dependable, easy to use, and will last and last. I'd rate it 5, but...

Cons:
1 - bags are impossible to find. nobody carry them or even 4 gallon size in general. to buy online will bankrupt you as shop vac running nice little racket, selling those 6 cent cost items for $6 to 12 per bag. The costs of replacement bags will very quickly overrun the cost of vac.

What I ended up doing is buying next bigger size bags of whatever cheapest brand local store carry(5-8 gallons), just making sure they are similar in shape and look. they always fit and work nicely, you just have to bend it a little along the bottom so it fits into the vac. That'll run you about $2 a bag or less if find a deal.

2 - there is no good nozzle to efficiently vacuum garage floor or any concrete floor, like basement.
EDIT: for basement/garage floor - I added a cheap floor tool on wheels from HomeDepot. Similar to this http://www.amazon.com/Carpet-Floor-Nozzle-Eureka-39134-6/dp/B0047IWIII/ref=sr_1_37?s=vacuums&ie=UTF8&qid=1366817076&sr=1-37&keywords=floor

I have an 8 gallon 4.5hp Craftsman (Sears), model 338-179370. I decided to also get a more portable vacuum, and this shop-vac fits the bill nicely. I did have a concern about how well this will pick up chunks of wood and nails in the shop, and am pleasantly surprised to find out that the 2.5" screw on vacuum hose for the craftsman is an exact fit for this vacuum, so I can use the craftsman's larger accessories and hose, as well as the 1.25" accessories that come with this vacuum.

Other improvements in this shop-vac over the Craftsman:
-- much better accessory storage
-- many more accessories, even a nice wide floor brush with carpet/hard (wood, linoleum, tile) settings like a regular vacuum
-- cord pegs to wind the cord around for storage
-- no need to "flip" the diverter when switching from wet to dry (though some versions may come with that kind of diverter, the instructions discuss both)
-- Easier to clean. The craftsman had inner lips which folded inward and caught debris when you tried to empty it; this shop vac's tank is like a mop bucket, with smooth sides that cleanly empty wet or dry debris. As a matter of fact, I could use the tank as a handleless mop bucket.

The craftsman had a couple of advantages. It was about $10 cheaper (10 years ago, anyway) and also came with a foam filter (for wet vac). The foam filter doesn't appear to be necessary, though; I just used this vacuum to unclog a drain and the combo filter that came with it had no problems with the water. The 1.25" hose was very helpful for this, 2.5" is too big. The 1.25" hose also provides better suction, but less efficiency and difficulty picking up bigger items from the shop.

Please note that I rarely use bags, since I use this in the shop, mostly. Most of the poor ratings dinged this great vacuum because of the expense of the bags. I will definitely be using duct tape (if needed) to convert some unused bags from an upright we have lying around, or buy some (generic) Hoover type A or V bags (as another kind reviewer suggested). I don't think I'll be getting the "cheaper" ~$3.50 bags from Lowes, and certainly not the $13/pair bags from the mfg!

I think bags are often over-rated. If someone has allergies, or you are cleaning fine particulate, yes! (Though I have never used a bag with the craftsman for drywall, plaster, or dry ashes). Otherwise, they are a waste of money... brushing out and washing out the filter periodically has always worked well for me.

Very adequate for normal household use. Lots of power and lots of suction. Excellent for cleaning crevices, baseboards, auto interiors, and places where you'd rather pick up dust and hair with the brush accessory than wipe up using a towel. Relatively quiet and light-weight. Not top-heavy due to design. My wife can handle easily. Accessory holder adequate. I have had a problem with motors either burning out or becoming extremely noisy on Shop-Vacs of a similar size. I'm crossing my fingers on this one because replacement motors are rediculously expensive. Would I buy it again? Absolutely.

I have had this vac for 3 years now and it still works great. I would agree that finding bags is a problem, but I always order a few at a time to save on shipping. It is a bit loud for a home vacuum, but it seems to pick up fine dust as well as pet hair on the floor (I still have to brush off my furniture for pet hair, it does not do the work for you). This is a no fuss powerful sucking vacuum with simple attachments. Four stars is only for the noise and for the bag trouble, otherwise this is a great choice for someone who does not want to spend a lot on a fancy vacuum, but wants one that works.

We love the vacuum cleaner, but as the previous poster stated the bags are now hard to find. We used to be able to get them at Sears. However they are available through the shop-vac website. But you actually have to enter the bag number 919-64-00 in the search box that comes up after you enter the accessory link. This is not very intuitive.

You can also just use a cartridge or foam filter, which works as well, but then you have to empty the vac and shake out the filter, which is messy.

easy to get bags at shop-vac # 916-64-00 $12.19. I own a small vac shop & bags are readily available at a wholesaler's warehouse so you can have a local vac shop order it. PLEASE use the RIGHT BAGS!! Duct taping a wrong bag makes me a bunch of money from blown motors :) Bags are made to exacting tolerances and, at best, you will blow dust all over the place & at worst-$$$. This has a stronger than normal motor & you take the chance of blowing up a bag made for a cheaper, domestic vac. 30 yrs vac repair experience says duct tape should be hidden from some people! FYI we are ordering this 6/19/2012 as Amazon's price is as good as my "wholesale" warehouse!

I purchased this to replaced an old Shop Vac that I just plain wore out after many, many years of good service. I love the quality of Shop Vac products, especially since it's made right here in Pennsylvania in USA!!! If you are looking for a canister type vac for jobs around the house as well as for the car, and work shop too, this is the one! Shop Vac's "Quiet Series" is a great item for use inside your home without sacrificing suction or power. Also tools and accessories are more readily available for Shop Vac units and they fit well when transferred between units. It's like the ad says pertaining to the quality of their products... "If it doesn't say Shop Vac, keep shopping"!
