4.0 out of 5 stars No complaints
If you are a Mac user in need of genealogy software, don't hesitate to pick up this solid piece of software. Version 8 is the fourth version I have purchased and found it very stable in OS X and have NO complaints.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lacking one essential feature
Reunion is a good product, but it is lacking one major feature -- unicode support. In this age of international and intercultural marriages, support for non-Roman scripts is essential.

If you are a Mac user in need of genealogy software, don't hesitate to pick up this solid piece of software. Version 8 is the fourth version I have purchased and found it very stable in OS X and have NO complaints.

First of all, compared to Family Tree Maker for the Mac, Reunion simply runs circles around it. Leister has been a long time supporter of the Mac through thick and thin even upgrading its product when the Mac had its lowest market percentage.

The program is quick, as simple or complex as needed, and supports importing or exporting of GEDCOM files quite well. I have used it successfully to post my genealogy file on a web page using its export to HTML feature.

As to a previous comment that Reunion does not have paper documentation, well, in this day and age I have few programs anymore that do provide paper docs... Apple software included.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Program!, February 6, 2006
You might consider switching from PC's to a Mac just so you can use this program! Having some experience with Family Tree Maker, Reunion is simply a better program, there is no comparison for ease of use and capability.

I have owned this program for two years and have yet to find something it can't do. It is so easy to use I started entering information right away - no directions required. The program can be simple or complex, depending on your needs. With its own electronic manual all your questions will be answered.

2.0 out of 5 stars Reunion 8.0, August 26, 2006
I was disappointed in this product. The print-outs of family group
sheets and pedigree charts are unattractive. The cascading pedigree
chart entries overlap and are unreadable. I also found the on-line
instruction manual hard to use. If print-outs are not wanted, Reunion 8.0
works reasonably well.

3.0 out of 5 stars Suffers from a lack of Internet integration, June 18, 2006
By
We bought an iMac with the intent of converting completely from PC to Mac. What was the one thing that made us keep the PC around? Genealogy. We had hoped that Reunion 8 would be a solution, but it's simply not up to par compared to Family Tree Maker. Yes, there are nice features, and the interface is pretty intuitive, even without a paper manual. But what Family Tree Maker does--and why we're keeping our PC as our genealogy archive--is integrate with Ancestry.com, as well as other genealogical search engines on the Net. I don't want to have to look up information in a browser, and then type it into my genealogy file. For that reason, I'm posting our "used only once" copy of Reunion 8 on Amazon, in case someone who's only a Mac user may be interested in it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reunion 8.0, August 21, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Reunion 8.0 is a great product. It is extremely easy to use, and very intuitive. I can figure out almost everything without even reading the help manual. I highly recommend Reunion for anyone who wants an ancestry program that is not too complicated.

1.0 out of 5 stars Takes a little while to get used to this program, September 25, 2005
Difficult to use without a paper manual. I honestly do not like this program. It is nothing like FTM which i really liked. This program is very annoying, i have lost the drive and interest I have had for genealogy because the program feels like a handicap. Will consider upgrade but will also be looking for a better program.
My advice:Don,t waste your money on this one, you will regret it.
