We bought this carseat for our son about 4 months ago, as he outgrew his Graco Snugride at about 4 months. When we went to Babies R Us, they talked to us about EVERY model there, but this one seemed to be the absolute best buy for the money!

I still think it is. I almost returned it, because, as many other reviewers have stated, I was having a very difficult time tightening the straps once he was snapped in.

My husband figured out that once you have them strapped in, put your thumb in the "V" of the belt that is on the back of the carseat. Push down with your finger until you have the seatbelt as tight as you want it and then pull the tightening strap on the front. This works WONDERS!!!!! It is so easy to tighten the belt now and I always get it right where I want it to be!

My only complaint is that the fabric seems to pull and pile a bit, especially when my son wears anything with velcro, like a bib while sitting in the seat, but this is not a big deal.

SO, THE BOTTOM LINE IS THIS: Don't go and spend over $200 on a more expensive Britax, just take your time learning how to use this one and it will be the best quality carseat and bargain you can get!

I would absolutely get this carseat again!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good car seat, April 1, 2006

This review is from: Titan Deluxe Convertible Car Seat - Bronze Glory
I have a Britax Marathon in my car and the Titan in my husbands car. My 11 month old, who is big for his age. Doesn't mind being in either of them. One thing I do like on the Titan is the straps. They are so easy to put on, click, click, click, done. I don't understand why people have so many problems with the straps. My Britax will allow more room for growth, but I have a harder time with the straps. And by the way they DO tangle on the Britax, and those rubber things on the Britax straps are annoying (if you have one you know what I mean). I really like Britax but I think it might be a bit over rated. One thing about the Britax, for questions they do not have a toll-free number. Surprised me, for being such a good rep company and charging so high a price for a car seat I think they could afford a toll-free number. Titan by Evenflo has a toll free number. Either way, if you can't get a Britax the Titan is a good choice too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Straps not so great, March 15, 2006

We really liked the price of this carseat as well as the fact that it comes in very neutral colors. The bronze is actually much more brown/tan. The seat is very roomy for our 6 month old. Our only complaints are that the hip strap is one continuous loop so it makes it hard to tighten the straps if one part of that loop is not even. Also, there are only 2 settings to make it recline in the rear facing position. Our daughter falls asleep in what looks like an uncomfortable neck position due to the fact that it does not recline very far.

We were hoping that this seat would work for us as due to its moderate size, Consumer Reports recommendation (this is actually a more deluxe version than the one CR lists), Baby Bargains rating (B+), and great price. We also liked the easy recline for rear facing (although we did have to tinker with the installation to ensure that my 7 month old could sleep well without her head flopping) and cup/toy storage holders. BUT, the straps were twisting constantly, did not adjust uniformly (one shoulder strap would sometimes loosen more than the other), and the crotch strap, while adjustable, was already way too tight--no way that this seat would be able to grow with us (if only this strap was abit longer...); the harness closure was also difficult to open and close, or at least not as smooth as our Graco Snugride infant carrier. We returned it for the Britax Roundabout (at double the price..ouch!) but the ease of use is like night and day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Convertible Seat!!!, September 14, 2005
By
This review is from: Titan Deluxe Convertible Car Seat - Bronze Glory
We were so glad to have found this seat! We went to Babies R Us with a flyer from Toys R Us ($10 off any seat over $40 - which they were only glad to honor). We also had a copy of the NHTSA's 2005 Child Safety Seat Ease of Use Ratings (www.nhtsa.dot.gov). The Evenflo Titan seats (2) listed here received great ratings (however the titan deluxe is a newer model). This seat has a nice rounded shape allowing our daughter to fit snuggly into it, unlike some seats which don't come around the sides hardly at all! It was easy to use and install - directions were very clear! Also it didn't have a lot of extra loose padding like some seats, which isn't safe in a crash. It did have a body pillow, which seems to be ideal if we were using this seat with a newborn (to help craddle the child more), but we removed it. And the head pillow is the best I have ever seen!!! Most pillows seem to force the child's head forward in an awkward way. Not this one - it is rounded and in the perfect position to cradle the infants head! And this seat is affordable! We love this seat and would encourage anyone to give it a try!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Price, Great Seat, January 16, 2006
This review is from: Titan Deluxe Convertible Car Seat - Bronze Glory
I am not sure what other people do, but I have to disagree with all the parents out there that feel this seat is a hassle. If you actually read the directions, it tells you how to adjust straps to fit your child. I have had this seat for my 9 month old daughter, she outgrew her infant seat at 6 months! It is currently rear facing still, and she has no problems falling asleep, even on short trips. The straps don't tangle on me like others complain of. If one side is tighter than the other, push on the release button and pull the side of strap out to make even with other side. Do not let reviews of parents who "can't figure out and read directions" sway you from making a great purchase at a great price, and a CR best buy. $200 Roundabout car seat, come on....you can spend the extra $100 on something else for your child to enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Peace of Mind, January 23, 2006
This review is from: Titan Deluxe Convertible Car Seat - Bronze Glory
My husband and I bought this seat because it came highly recommended by Consumer Reports. We had it installed by the local fire department (another free life-saving service our heros provide free here in Colorado.)

We have been very pleased with it because our 8 month old daughter seems to be comfortable in it (she always hated her infant seat and would cry in it and pull at the straps.) We haven't found it hard to use at all.

We were in a rear-end accident (no - I'm not talking diapers here!) yesterday and we're so happy we had this seat. Everyone in the car was rattled and bruised except for our daughter who was giggling and smiling for the emergency crews who came to the accident scene. She was completely fine!

We're going out today to buy another one - this seat is worth every penny!

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad leg straps, October 14, 2005
By
This review is from: Titan Deluxe Convertible Car Seat - Bronze Glory
I bought this car seat after reading the Cosumer Reports findings that it was so safe. When I saw it it the store, I was pleased with how comfy it looked. But I didn't bother to check the location of the leg straps in the store. Once I got it home, I realized that the straps go over the baby's thighs, not his hips, so it digs into his legs. I can't imagine this is safe if there is an accident, plus it held his legs down making him very uncomfortable. I returned it for the Triumph - which seems to be working very well.

1.0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE SEAT! DON'T BUY THIS!!!!!, November 7, 2005
This review is from: Titan Deluxe Convertible Car Seat - Bronze Glory
Our daughter was only 6 months and 14 lbs when we bought this and it left red welts in her thighs! As far as adjusting the straps so that doesn't happen.....IMPOSSIBLE! The straps come right over the legs practically locking their legs down. I dont see how this could possibly fit a toddler when there is no adjustment for the bottom strap (the piece between the legs). My daughter has barely any baby fat and the clips still dug in her legs. Also there are 2 settings for straps ...infant and toddler....my daughter at 27 inches and 14 lbs had to be in the toddler setting and then the straps didn't tighten enough. This is our 3rd child...my husband is a pro at carseats and yet he couldn't get the straps set correctly. Needless to say this went back to the store. We now bought the Cosco Alpha Omega Elite. We love this one. Hubby had it installed in probably less then 10 min. My daughter loves it and straps are very easy to set. By the way...we chose the Cosco after hearing from lots of other moms in play groups how great it is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Will fit (snugly) in a car with two other kids!, June 1, 2006
By
This review is from: Titan Deluxe Convertible Car Seat - Bronze Glory
If you are like me and totally frustrated at how wide carseats are getting, then this one is for you! I drive a Subaru Outback wagon and have three children, so when we needed to get a new convertible carseat for the baby, I had to take into account not only price, but also what would fit in the car in between our other two seats. We had our five-year-old in a Graco TurboBooster and the three-year-old in an Evenflo Comet forward-facing/high-back booster seat. The Titan is by far the narrowest convertible carseat I could find, and I still had to trash the Evenflo booster and buy another Graco TurboBooster for my three-year-old just to fit all three kids in the car. Thank goodness Babies R Us will let you try out the floor models in your car before you buy anything! The only other seat that came remotely close to fitting was the Graco Comfort Sport, and even that was too wide.

I've been using the Titan for two weeks now, and haven't really had any difficulty getting the straps adjusted correctly. I did notice, like another reviewer, that the shoulder straps are one continuous loop underneath the seat, which could account for the problems other reviewers have had, but any time it seems like one side is going to be tighter than the other, I just give that side a bit of a tug to pull in the slack on the other, and then there's no problem. My daughter seems to be happy in the seat. I did notice that it buckles farther down on her thighs than I remember our other seats doing, but it doesn't seem to bother her at all. I do have to stuff a rolled-up towel underneath it in order to get it to recline enough, but every carseat I looked at suggested doing that if necessary (we had to do it on our old convertible, too), and with the towel there, her head doesn't flop forward when she sleeps. We took a two-hour drive the day after we bought the seat, and she slept just fine and was perfectly happy when she was awake.

This seat is (relatively) inexpensive, narrow enough for our family's needs, and seems very comfortable.
