This is the best car seat out there! I use it in my Combi Twin Savvy.,

This review is from: SafeSeat Infant Car Seat - Roxy
I bought this seat last month when my daughter was 10 months old. I am 28 weeks pregnant and plan on using this car seat for my daughter until the baby is born at which point I will use it for my newborn. My daughter is 21 pounds, 29 inches long. This is too big for any other infant carrier out there, but well within the limits for this Graco Safeseat. I was using the Britax Marathon for my daughter starting around 5 months old because she had already outgrown the 26 inch length limit of the Graco Snugride. We used the Britax until she was 10 months old which is when I discovered this Safeseat. The biggest advantage I see with this seat is (actually there are two)....
#1--It is VERY easy to install properly! Much easier than the Graco Snugride. I could never get the snugride base tight enough. I was able to install the safeseat (being 25 weeks pregnant) in about 3 minutes. It comes with a built in locking clip making things easier. #2--Better weight limit and lenght limit. Being able to allow your baby to continue to sleep during outings is a wonderful thing taken away when you must use the convertable forward/rear facing seats. Yes, it is quite heavy to lug around a 20+ pound baby in a car seat. I am currently 28 weeks pregnant and still doing so without problem. I generally don't carry her this way other than to move her from the car to the shopping cart or from the car to the stroller (when she has fallen asleep in the car). Some more positives about this seat: --it has been tested to twice the standard that other seats are tested, and passed. --it has a large sun shade/ canopy that is fully adjustable (WAY BETTER THAN THE PEG PEREGO!!!!). Which brings me to another big advantage of being able to use this seat until my child is forward facing. When my daughter is in a rear facing car seat (i.e. britax marathon convertable seat) there is NO sun shade so the sun was constantly bothering her, even with the use of sun shades on the window of the car. The only thing that could be considered a negative in my opinion would be that it is rather large. This is necessary though for the added weight and length limit. But if you have a small car and multiple children, the space it takes up could be an issue. In my honda accord I cannot fit the Britax Marathon and the Graco Safeseat directly side by side. One must go on either side of the car and not in the middle. In the Honda Pilot, however you can fit one in the middle and one next to it (which would be ideal for anyone with an infant and toddler). The fabric is very nice and seems like it will hold up better than the Graco Snugride fabric. One more thing I would like to mention is that I have the Combi Twin Savvy stroller. This stroller is compatable with the Combi car seat. I discovered that I can put the safeseat in the twin savvy and it sits there pretty securely, though it doesn't actually LOCK in place. I have used it this way many times and had a problem yet. When it is on the stroller it does overlap into some of the seat next to it. That's about all I can think to write about this car seat. I highly recommend this seat over all others.

Fits Perfectly w/Graco Snugrider Infant Car Seat Frame,
By
This review is from: SafeSeat Infant Car Seat - Roxy
I did lots of research on carseats and am really glad that I waited out for this seat. I live in an apartment and really wanted a lightweight travel system, but was hesistant about putting money into a frame that I might not be able to use for more than 6-8 months as most infant seats only accomodate babies up to 20 lbs and large babies run in my family.
This infant seat has all the safety features of a Snugrider and will hold babies up to 30 lbs/1 year-- that's 97% of infants. On top of that, the Safeseat in Roxy looks super cute with the Graco Snugrider Infant Car Seat Frame. The Roxy pattern coordinates really well with the red, black, and silver highlights on the frame and is a perfect fit for this seat. We only have a Toy's R Us where I live which only carries the Snap N Go not the Graco Infant Car Seat Frame... the Safeseat did fit into the Snap N Go, but it was no way as near as secure as the Graco Frame. I ended up driving an hour away to a Baby's R US in another town to spend ten bucks more on the Graco Frame and it was worth every bit. Together the two just handle better. I just didn't see the point of investing in a frame that was not secure with my infant seat. A rocky ride equals a fussy baby, which defeats the purpose of even getting a car seat that doubles as an infant carrier. The Safeseat is great and I love that it's put an extra couple months into the life of my travel system. This is most definately the best purchase I've made for baby thus far!

Car seat that is worth the money,
By
This review is from: SafeSeat Infant Car Seat - Roxy
I have spent many hours staring at the comptuer screen trying to figure out which infant seat to buy for our 3rd child. With each of the previous ones, I was certain that I could re-use the old seat, but each time that proved false. With #2 we had a Baby Trend Latch-Loc and it fit well with the Latch in our Montero, but the base just slid around in our Audi Allroad which doesn't have the Latch system. There was no way to use the base and we were afraid that we would break off the plastic seat belt guides getting it in securely (we are serious about car seat installation in this family). I went to Babies R Us to look at the new Peg Perego seats which have a higher back and will accomodate a larger (taller) baby than the old ones, but of course, they didn't have any in stock. Next I was going to look at the Combi and the Britax Companion, but same story - none in the store to try. I didn't want to pay for shipping for the Britax only to find it might not fit in the Audi and I would have to pay to ship it back (Babies R Us don't take returns if they don't carry the item in the store), so I just bought the Graco Safe Seat and decided to give it a whirl. Here's the verdict. It installs nicely in both our new Honda Odyssey and the Audi. The canopy is very large and works well to shade the baby from many angles. It is definitely taller than our older seat and I can see it holding a one year old very easily, although hoisting said one year old out of the car will be another story. The taller back of the seat could be a problem in smaller cars, so be sure to try it out to see if it fits in your car. In the Audi, it fits behind the passenger seat but the front seat has to be rather far forward not to make contact with it. It fits behind the driver's seat in the Odyssey even when my husband is driving. The harness system is easy to buckle, unbuckle and adjust. It is very nicely padded, so our son seems to be comfortable in it. He sleeps well in it and is often in it for long naps in the house after we get him out of the car. We're thinking of moving it up to our bedroom so we can get some sleep (did I say "we", because I really mean "me"). Babies R Us now sells the base for $49 so you can get a spare for your other vehicle. The longer usefullness lifespan makes the $49 easier to spend. I got the Graco Stroller frame to snap this onto and would highly recommend spending the $59. I figure it will get a lot of use in the coming months and if it makes life easier, it is worth the expense in the end. What I like most about the car seat and stroller combination is that our son will be able to sleep uninterrupted while I haul the older boys to all of their activities in the next year. It seems so unfair to have to wake the baby to get in and out of the car when runnig errands and this solves that problem. I'll have buff arms from getting him in the car and onto the stroller frame if nothing else! Highly recommend this item!!!

Love it.....but it's got a few easily solved issues,

I bought my 7month old daughter the nicest model of the infant safe seat(it's the central park pattern)about a month ago. Before I dared buy any kind of car seat for my daughter again I made sure that I read over every parent review I could find(So I thank those who have reviewed this before me, they were a big help). I found a few complaints that I had about about this carseat myself after testing it out in the stores. I'll post a few possible solutions that I've found.
Complaint #1: It's too big to fit on top of shopping carts. I don't like it, but apparrently you're not even supposed to put carseat/carriers on shopping carts. It throws off the balance of the cart and can cause the cart to tip over super easy from what I've heard. I think Graco actually makes them so that they don't fit for that reason. Complaint #2: The metallic or nylon-like fabric is uncomfortable for baby My daughter hated the metallic and nylon fabric when I tried her into them in the store so we bought a pattern that didn't have it(Central Park). You can check gracobaby.com to see other patterns that don't have it. Thats where we found ours. Complaint #3: The waist of the belts are at an angle leaving marks on the babys' thighs. My daughter got marks the first time she wore a sunsuit in it but now I just pull the dress part down between her skin and the belts. The angle though is so that the waist belts will sit at the pelvis(or as close as possible on a newborn), which is the safest and the ideal place for them to sit on the baby. Complant #4: Its' too big to fit most cars I thought for sure it wouldn't fit in our car especially because our Snug Ride barely squeezed in the backseat. But oddly enough this thing fits better into our old beat up 1992 Chevy Lumina(the sedan not the minivan)than the snug ride did. And if you've ever seen those old cars you'd know that when the front seat(s) are pushed all the way back there's pretty much no room for ANY kind of rear facing carseat. With the Infant Safe Seat installed PROPERLY my husband can still put the front seats all the way back. And this thing still fits into cars better than ANY convertible carseat. Before deciding on the infant safe seat I had tried the Graco, Evenflo, Britax, and Eddie Bauer convertible seats into the car. Complaint #5: It's heavy and bulky. It is bulky, but how else could it accomadate the higher weight and height limit. As for being heavy Graco says it only weighs 5 pounds more than the old(20lb, 26")Snug Ride. In Babies 'R' Us I tried holding our old snug ride(26",20lbs) and the infant safe seat in both hands to compare the weight and even switched hands, but couldn't tell a difference. I also tried my daughter in it and carried her around the store. I think because of the size it makes it easier to carry the bigger/heavier babies, because my 18lb 27" daughter is a lot more difficult to carry in her now out-grown snug ride. And I like that even once I no longer carry her around in it I'll still have the convenience of a travel system beyond the first year if my daughter's sleeping. That's something that no other carrier (or convertible carseat) can offer. Complaint #6: It doesn't fit in the over-turned wooden highchairs I made it a point to try the carrier in restauraunt high chairs when i got it. I have tried it at 4 different restauraunts and have not had any more trouble than i did with the snug ride. So far from what I've seen they've fit perfectly. Complaint #7: The stroller that matches the carseat is quite large Most of the patterns only offer a Quattro Tour stroller to match it, however the 3 nicest patterns/models, Samba, G Collection, and Central Park also offer a matching MetroLite stroller, and the Fusion patter also offers a matching Mosaic stroller, however the Pierson pattern ONLY offers a matching Mosaic stroller. The Quattro Tour stroller is a FULL SIZE stroller so it is heavier, bulkier, and has more nifty features, than the MetroLite and Mosaic stollers. So keep that in mind when choosing a stroller. Complaint #8: It's too big for newborns. The 3 nicest patterns/models of the infant safe seats come with infant head&body support, though it isn't the greatest and if it doesn't work for your baby then you can just buy the Kiddopottomus Snuzzler infant head&body support. It's actually reversible and made out of that super soft velboa material on one side and the other is soft woven fabric. I had to buy one for my daughter when she was born because she was only 6lbs 12.5oz. She was so small even her snug ride looked like it swallowed her up when I buckled her into it. I've actually seen other reviews recommending the Snuzzler for the newborns who're going in an infant safe seat. Complaint #9: The head support that the carrier comes with doesn't work You even have to buy separate (double)head supports for the snug rides (even the ones that come with a single one) unless you buy one of the nicest snug ride models that comes with double head supports. The head support that comes with most Infant Safe Seats is made more for older napping babies. I recommend the Especially for Baby Double head supports if you don't get the Snuzzler because they're made of 100% jersey knit cotton, the back of the head supports are slightly padded, they're deeper than any other head supports I've seen, so they hold babys' head better, and you can get them in quite a few different colors to match your car seat.

Best Car Seat Ever,
By
This review is from: SafeSeat Infant Car Seat - Roxy
I just purchased this car seat and I am very happy with it.
1. It accomodates babies up to 30 pounds so your baby won't grow out of it in just a few months. 2. The canopy is huge and offers plenty of protection from the sun. 3. The car seat is nicelly padded with good head support. 4. It is compatible with strollers other then Graco. I use it with a Zooper stroller and it works great.

Finally, a car seat for all babies!,

This review is from: SafeSeat Infant Car Seat - Roxy
This car seat has been way too long in coming! I have three children, ages nearly eleven, six, and four months. My oldest was a tiny baby, my middle was a big baby, and my yougest is a very big baby. All three children outgrew their infant seats before a year. My daughter was simply too tall at ten months to fit anymore, though she hadn't reached the weight limit. My middle child outgrew his seat in both height and wieght by five months old, as he was around the 90th percentile. My youngest, now nearly four months, has about reached the height and weight limits, being about the 100th percentile. We had the Graco Snug Ride, which I liked, but when he outgrew it we decided to invest in this second infant car seat, since with two older children we spend a lot of time on the road and I would hate to have to wake him to take him in and out of the house. We bought this car seat, and he looked so much more comfortable! It seems to be the same weight as the Snug Ride, it is well made, and he is much happier! I like the grey, black and red colors, and the fabric seems easy to clean. It is relatively easy to adjust.
A couple of drawbacks (which would not stop me from getting this car seat at all): the head support pillow this one comes with wouldn't support much; the seat, when new, had a slightly chemical smell, which transferred to my son's coat, too; this car seat is bigger, and blankets that attach into infant seats may not fit in this one - our didn't. Some of the models come with a cold weather boot, but the one we looked at wasn't that great to me. We opted out of that model and I made him a snuggly blanket instead. If you do get this car seat, get a pair of strap covers when your baby won't be wearing a coat. The straps seem to come up against the neck, looking uncomfortable, so the strap covers are a nice thing to have. We got the SnugRider frame to use with this, and it worked out great for us. Smaller than his big stroller, quicker to use, and with a big basket underneath, something to consider instead of a travel system stroller when they are in the car seat anyway! Knowing that almost all babies will either surpass the height and/or weight by the time they are a year old, and you don't know what kind of baby you will have, this is a great idea.

Great carseat,

This review is from: SafeSeat Infant Car Seat - Roxy
I bought the graco safeseat when my daughter was 5 months old do to the fact that she grew out of her graco snugride before she could sit up. I was worried about getting her a convertable carseat because it would be hard to take her shopping. This product is pretty new and I found it interesting that it holds infants in a rearfacing position until they are 30lbs. and 1 year.(recommended)Plus it's a carrier. My childs safety is important as well as her comfort. This carseat has it all. I would recommend getting one of these carseats in the first place so you won't have the trouble of switching if you need to. I have 4 children and I never had this problem before. It could save you money in the long run. I love this carseat. FYI this carseat comes in different colors so if you don't like the ones babiesrus carries then try some other retailers. Mine is brown tan and blue gingum.

Great Car Seat BUT Too Large for our small SUV,
By Colorado reader & parent (Colorado Springs, CO) - See all my reviews
This review is from: SafeSeat Infant Car Seat - Roxy
I gave the seat itself 5 stars - I guess our car gets 3 stars :)
The seat is wonderful - easy to install, good LATCH fit, foot on it to level the seat out, nice lining. Unfortunately, we are going to have to return it and get another seat for our soon-due newborn! It's too long (head to foot) to fit comfortably in our car. We don't have center LATCH points, so it has to go behind a seat. The car seat is so long, that once it is installed and at an appropriate level for a newborn, the seat in front of it has to be almost completely upright and pushed forward more than is comfortable for a 5'7" person. For reference, we have a 2003 Subaru Forester. Before you buy this seat, see if you can find a friend that has one...check it out in your car to make sure it fits! I didn't expect it to be a problem - it wasn't with our first child's seat that was smaller. So, the benefit of this carseat (rear facing to 30 lbs!) could be it's downfall for you if you don't have a large vehicle.

Baby isn't here yet, but I'm in love already!,

First of all I must say I am VERY happy with the safeseat! I haven't actually used it yet, as I am not due until early July, but I can easily say its the best seat out there!
I am expecting baby #2, and my first son is 14 months old. For him, I used the Graco SnugRide which I also loved (I am a huge Graco fanatic!). I figured I could re-use his seat, as it was in great condition and he only used it for about 5 1/2 months before he outgrew it, but I am SO happy I saw the safeseat. First of all, if my son had used this seat he could very well still be using it today since the seat holds 30 lbs and 32 inches! It scored VERY well on crash-test ratings, and was also a breeze to install into my Honda-Odyssey (due to the convenient LATCH system) for a "test run", and equally as simple to REMOVE since we do not need it as of now. The canopy is VERY large, which is another HUGE plus. When my son was born I never realized how important this feature was, but not only does it block out the sun (which is extremely important in itself) it also keeps pesky family and friends from coming too close to a young infant. I also found out (VIA a very nice BabiesRUs employee who assisted me last week when I chose this seat) that the Graco SafeSeat has EPS memory foam, which makes it very comfortable, and very safe. The 5-point harness is simple to adjust for different body-types, and also easy to buckle and un-buckle. In my opinion the seat is quite bulky and heavy, but I am small myself (only 5"2), but it is understandable as the seat holds a lot of weight. Secondly, I have heard that it fits into *most* Graco strollers, so I am hoping it will fit into the Graco Snugride Stroller Frame, or one of the more light-weight strollers they have. If you visit the GracoBaby website, you can view more patterns and styles of the seat (I personally chose the Renaissance pattern, which is a navy blue color that I find is very neutral, and will hide stains easily in-case we ever need to re-use the seat). All in all, the SafeSeat is the BEST seat for any infant, and I highly reccomend it.

Not for smaller babies,
By jojn (UT) - See all my reviews
This review is from: SafeSeat Infant Car Seat - Roxy
this is a wonderful carseat, that we were very happy with until we had our baby. We ended up having a 36 week preemie, 5 lb and 17". It is our state's law that every baby under 37 weeks has to pass a carseat test, where the baby sits for 90 minutes in the carseat with monitors on oxigen, breathing, etc. The carseat is big and because of that the baby would constantly slide down, which limits baby's ability to breath ( which would put an alert alarm on the monitors). And the padding was not helpful either -- it put babies head in weird position, preventing it from breathing properly ( simply because the baby is small ). Plus, the straps do not even get tight enough to hold a 5 lb baby. So, the carseat didn't pass the test. Fortunately, we had an old peg perego ( bought just 1 1/2 years ago for our son), and the baby did beautifully -- the breathing, oxygen levels -- everything looked great. So, Graco has a great carseat, but not so safe for small babies. I am definitelly excited to use it later on, but it is a big disappointment that we cannot use it now. And if you have a smaller baby, then this is not a safe seat for you.
