Philips 47PFL9732D 47" 1080p HDTV blew me away. I owned a Sharp Aquos before this and there is no comparison in my eyes. Granted my Sharp was from three years ago but still. The Phillips has far superior color and sharpness and brightness. The ambilight2 feature is amazing. Both sides of the TV light work independent from one another. While watching a nature show there was a tree trunk on the left side of the screen and some of the forest on the right. Left side of the screen projected a soft warm brown glow while the right projected a bright vivid green glow. The only reason I don't rate this TV a FIVE is because the speaker leaves a little to be desired. It's not bad sound but not the best I've heard from a TV. It sounds kind of hollow almost as if the sound is coming from a can. I guess this is not a factor if you have a surround sound system. I would highly recommend this TV to all my friends and family.

This TV is great...the ambilight really adds something to the movie watching experience, you can set it to be dynamic or more subtle...the menu helps you set the preferences you want, which is helpful to me since I have no business adjusting tint or hue...it looks great, the picture is great, and I think the sound is excellent. I returned my Toshiba 1080p 47" TV and for a hundred bucks more I got something miles ahead. I just finished watching a horrible movie (Kevin Costner, baseball, not Bull Durham) and I couldn't turn it off because I couldn't keep my eyes off my new TV...
