This really holds the food HOT. My biggest critics are my kids and they love it. They can finally take hot pasta or soup to school and have a hot meal. But, you MUST follow the instructions. I recommend that you allow the BOILING HOT water to sit in the thermos for a minimum of 15 minutes. Keep in mind you must put piping hot food into the container. The kids tell me that when they open the thermos hot steam comes out and the food is nice and warm. I typically fill the thermos with food around 7:00am and the kids eat lunch anywhere from 12:15 to 1:00 pm. It really seems to work. This was worth the money!

After searching and reading several reviews about the variety of thermos food containers, I settled on this one.
I was sick of microwaving my food everyday, and following a suggestion from a colleague, I decided to start using a stainless steel thermos to keep my food hot!

Oh my goodness, you will NOT go wrong with this item! I put soup in it at 7am in the morning, and it's still piping hot at 1pm when I eat lunch!! It will hold an entire can of Chunky or Progresso soup, which are normally two servings per can, so you have more than enough to eat!
It's a bit pricey, but trust me, it is so well worth it! I use this everyday!
I just ordered two more---one for a Christmas gift,and the other to put my oatmeal or grits in, when I'm rushing in the mornings and don't have time to eat breakfast at home.

Oh yes!! There's a tip that's included with the thermos: If you're putting hot foods in it, then put some hot water in the thermos for about 5 minutes before adding the hot food. It extends the time that your food will maintain it's heat.

It's not necessary as I've used it without putting hot water in it prior to adding my food, and my food remained just as hot.
I've actually placed this container in my Built NY lunch bag with ice packs to keep my other foods like yogurt and fruit cool, and it still didn't affect the heat within the thermos.
Also, there is a cute little spoon that extends to full sized enclosed in the lid. Very handy!
You won't go wrong with this one! :)

Kept my Lipton soup very warm for 5 hours. By touching the outer layer, one would never know that hot contents resided inside. The spoon concept is clever and might be more practical for stews or thicker soups. I have yet to try cold fluids because we have a fridge at work. It never leaked, however I kept it a vertical position during transport. Overall a great product at a competitive price.

The best part of this product is the foldable spoon, which I now carry everywhere. I contacted Thermos to see if I could buy another but it's in demand and out of stock. The thermos itself is just the right size for a bowl of soup. I love to use it with tomato soup.

Pros:

* Compact size;
* Folding spoon;
* Easy to clean -- low profile;
* Great price;
* Clip for spoon;
* Tight lid ---- kept temperature for 7 hours --- I burned my tongue.

Negatives:

* Cup is a little small;
* Only comes in one color, like the model T ("They can buy any color they like, as long as it's black."(Henry Ford)).

I am thoroughly happy with the product after using it for 2 months.

Although my 10-yr. old loved the soups and stews that I made, she would always come home from school with most of them left in her thermos. Her reason; they were either lukewarm or cold by the time she got to eat.
Well, we decided not to buy any more "off the shelf" thermoses and to find one that, regardless of price, would keep foods hot or cold. Hence, we came upon this thermos. I carefully read the reviews, compared those to many others, and decided this was the best one we had researched.
Wow. My daughter, the most finicky eater on the planet, comes home every day with her thermos completely empty. In fact, she brags that by the time she opens it, it is still "steaming"!
Well worth the price. Be sure to pre-heat (see instructions), and the rest is epicurean heaven. Additionally, we LOVE the spoon that comes with it. It is a telescoping spoon with a very nice curvature.

I bought this thermos on August 12, 2012. When I received it, I started taking hot soups to work for my lunches. Less than 3 weeks later, the plastic insert inside the metal cap fell out. The insert was attached to the metal cap by only a small dot of glue. As it was less than 30 days since purchase, I contacted Amazon Customer Service. They were very helpful and sent a new thermos to replace the defective one.

I received the new thermos on September 11, 2012. I used the thermos with my hot soups for about 2 months without any problem. During this time, I would pour hot soup into the thermos and screw on the cap. The outside of the thermos stayed room temperature. Generally, I would eat lunch about 6 hours after filling the thermos. The soup would still be quite warm and I had to be careful not to burn myself.

After 2 months, the thermos stopped working properly. I poured hot soup into the thermos and screwed on the cap. After a few minutes, the outside of the thermos would become uncomfortably warm, almost too hot to touch. When I went to eat lunch the soup would NOT be warm, it would be lukewarm, room temperature. Apparently, the vacuum seal was broken somehow.

I followed the directions for use of the thermos. Before pouring soup into the thermos, I first added hot tap water and let it sit for a few minutes. I hand washed the thermos. I transported the thermos in a padded lunch bag. I didn't drop or bounce the thermos around. I was not rough with the thermos in anyway. And yet, in a 3 month period, I had 2 different thermos' fail.

The Thermos brand used to represent quality. I remember how durable they were when I was a kid. This was one of the reasons why I choose to purchase a Thermos product. Not anymore. I will go with a different brand in the future.

It arrived today. And I am very happy my son can have another larger warm lunch container. But when I took it off from box, and turn around the cap, it detached not two single caps. It means that the glue doesn't work well. I took and upload the picture, which you can check from the product page.

Except this, it is a grand new nice thermo container! I have to keep it since I really don't have time to do return & refund .

I hand washed my thermos all of the the 5 times I have used it. The inner plastic cap, which was held on by very little glue, had separated from the metal cap. It will not stay on now.

Very poorly made if the cap comes unglued and breaks on the 5th hand wash cycles. Better yet, it's very poorly made if it can't withstand even a year's worth of abuse. I bought two of these and this is the first one it has happened to, but I'm just waiting now for the other one to break as well.

Not satisfied at all.

I bought this for my daughter's lunchbox...After about 4 months, the bottom broke off. I re-glued, which worked for a little while, but it has fallen apart again...my daughter's friend has had similar problems. I would probably avoid until they can figure it out. Garbage now.
