Great value and quality construction
on October 8, 2011
The first two things I look for in clothing are does the item look good and is it comfortable. Then I move on, to value. These pants hit all three "sweet spots" very well.
I tried a couple of pair of these pants this week. I got them, washed and dried them according to instructions, hung them up, and was really impressed by the feel of the fabric (very soft) and the construction -- and the crisp look as the wrinkles fell out. Putting a pair on, they looked good enough that with a blazer and tie, I wore them to court. They are extremely comfortable, and in that way are far superior to the Dockers I bought at the same time. In construction, they are the equal or superior to Dockers, and the cut of the legs and through the "stride" is more generous. They also have a higher waist. The permanent press looked very good, and they moved with me, sitting and standing, in Court.
While I'm really happy with these pants -- especially for the price, I'll give them 4 stars right now, because I don't know how well the permanent press or the fabric will hold up, but I can see these pants as the business traveler's friends. Hang them (at least while they're fairly new), and wrinkles just fall out. I have never heard of this brand, but at least initially, I think these are an excellent value. Drive to a meeting and be assured your trousers will look good within a couple of minutes after getting out of the car. They will not replace my heavy dress twills (about 4 times the price), which I know will wear many years, but then they don't have to go to the cleaners or be pressed before every wearing.
I'll come back in a few months and edit the review to say how they do after several washes and wearings.
FOLLOW-UP: I increased the review to 5 stars. After 9 months and 25 or so washings, the permanent press is holding up very well. Dry them on a cool setting, and remove promptly and hang by the cuffs -- they look good -- certainly not rumpled.
