I bought these at Gamestop($129.99) and have been using them heavily for about a month, particularly for Starcraft2 and listening to music. The fit and finish on the headset is very high quality. The plastic and metal bits seem very durable and should hold up to normal use. The headset is also very comfortable to wear, although it does not seal securely around the ear, which allows in a lot of ambient sound. The colors of the lights can be easily changed, or mix and matched to your particular preference. There is a lot to like about the design, however in function this headset is absolute garbage. The first week was ok, but it all quickly went south. The mic, when it works, will just randomly stop working at the most inconvenient times (often while in SC2). Occasionally when launching games, the sound will stop working altogether, and requires you to re-seat the usb connector to reestablish the connection to the computer. This process baselines all of your previously saved software settings, and requires you to reset everything. When it is working, the sound is great, however I always know whats coming. I own or have owned 4 Razer mice, 1 keyboard, and 1 other headset. This product is not up to Razer standards, and it appears they got the SC2 naming license and just phoned it in for some easy cash. Disappointing at best. I have decided to pitch this into the Land of Unused Electronics and go with another brand, preferably one that's manufactured in the United States. As a footnote, I have a technical background and have worked in I.T. for over fifteen years. I have put numerous hours into trying multiple configurations to get this headset to work with no luck.

The headset itself is very solid. The size may be a little off-putting to those not used to larger headsets, but it is very comfortable to wear and exceptionally easy to get used to.

It looks great, the lights are bright and the sound quality is on-par for the price of the headset.

The microphone, however, is designed poorly.
It will stop working quickly. Everyone I've ever known to own one of these has either had to get a new headset or a new microphone to use externally. It's a very unfortunate and fatal flaw of an otherwise good headset.

To sum it up, the audio and comfort are great, but the microphone is almost guaranteed to fail you after a very short time.

I got this headset on a lightning deal for $59.99. I was hesitant because while I like Starcraft, I'm not a fanboy. I was pleased to find that I could completely turn off the Starcraft II logo lights when customizing the light scheme. The lack of a padded microphone allows for some background noise to come through, but it's still decent quality.

Keep in mind that the body of the headset is a metallic gray; not nearly as dark as the images suggest. That's just a vain little gripe, though.

They are comfortable and effective. However, unless you have an intense love of Starcraft, I would recommend one of the other Razer headsets instead of paying full price for this product.

This is really a good headphone. Very perfect for starcraft 2! Forget everybad thing those user said, if you update the newest driver, those won't appear at all. Be sure to install the razer startcraft II driver v1.02.exr

My microphone is mostly broken on this headset, I have the correct system audio settings, and am a computer programmer. Not sure what is wrong with this microphone, but I believe it speaks to the product as a whole that mine is broken. Ears are very comfortable and the audio is good.

Edit September 2014: My review is for the original model. It seems the product was updated when "Heart of the Swarm" was released, but some stores may not specify which one it is. You might want to be sure you get THIS specific model found on this page
Razer Banshee StarCraft II Heart of The Swarm Over Ear Gaming Headset

Original review (with new edits):
These microphones are TERRIBLE. (edit: they updated the product, i heard the mic works better now)
I had problems with mine, and after extensive research, discovered other people had the same problem with no luck after contacting the manufacturer. (by some gamble/chance, you might get lucky and have a working mic [edit: or you just need to make sure you buy the newer model])

With these huge headphones you might THINK you can blast your ears out to your hearts content, but really once you use them around any outside noise, you'll realize they can't overpower or keep the outside noise out. Good loud headphones for this price SHOULD be "too loud" at maximum volume, that way each user can adjust to their liking. This is not the case with the Razer Banshee. I think there's even some error or bad noise with certain sounds.

The headset does look and feel nice which may possibly justify the price value, however, no one wants to buy something broken.

I bought these as soon as they were released, and am still using them today for what they're worth. I'm writing this review because I'm finally ready to buy something better.

Buy this if you want cool headphones, but NOT if you need a microphone or good quality sound.

(Edit: I'm still using these headphones several years later, so at least you know they last long. I'm even try to fix the mic issue: as long as you apply pressure to the mic, it works fairly well until it inevitably moves ever so slightly and starts to create painful noise in your ears)

I was tired of buying crap headsets, I had the behind the ear ones, I had the Radio DJ looking ones with the rubber ear pieces, I had ear buds. So I bought these for myself as a birthday present. These are by far the best I have ever had. Sound quality is phenomenal, they are SUPER comfy with the cloth ear pieces. No more sweaty ears, no more hurting ears after taking them off. I do play Starcraft 2 but haven't tried out the APM feature or anything. The mic quality is crystal clear (according to my friends on skype and Vent). I really like the controls on the back of each ear piece, you need to be careful though when taking them off or putting them on, you may inadvertently mute your mic and wonder why no one is answering your questions on Vent :P. Lastly these things are pretty sturdy. It's thick plastic with metal inserts with a wide headband. I like the thick cable too, there is no chance for the ends to get a short from bending near the termination points they are super reinforced with thick rubber. I can foresee many many years of use with these. :D OH! Forgot to mention, for buying this headset I was given a 25 USD credit to my account from Amazon to use on any downloadable game from their catalog. Out of the many options (about 40 different games) I chose Civ 5, being a huge fan of the other Civilization games.

I thought that I had got a deal on this headset, I was very happy and excited for one they had come early I took them out of the box that they came in and immediately proceeded to try them out I thought that I had got a great deal on this headset but No I got taken for a hella of a ride the seller sent me a broken headset sound was poor an the mic did not work at all there were also multiple breaks in the cord that were taped up with scotch tape then partially melted to stop the fraying of the cord an lets not forget in the ad it said headset in mint condition I plugged them in and when they did not work I in return got in touch with Amazon to email him right a way that same day he then replied back with a email saying mail them back so he could assess the damage's to the headset him so I did the very next day a few days later II received another email from him saying refund is denied due to buyer breaking the headset beyond repair and he would only refund my shipping ,and II was outraged at that for saying that I broke them and all I did was plug them in to my computer But if it wasn't for your wonderful Amazon team I don't know what I would have done
The three ladies that I'm going to mention in this long drawn out review deserve all of the credit for their hard work on getting me my money back from this seller Ido think that they should not allow sellers this one on Amazon or any other website that allows people to sell items because it gives company or site a bad name I was not going to come back to Amazon after that horrific ordeal but thanks to Patti, Kim.D, Marsha.M these three ladies saved the day so in closing I would like to thank Patti, Kim.D, Marsha.M for making my overall experience on Amazon a very nice one after all THANK YOU Patti, Kim.D, Marsha.M
