Tried Honeywell (noisy and did not heat the room well), Smal (dangerous it short circuited), a radiator type (outside got very hot and because there is no fan with that type it took a long time to heat the room)and none seemed to be right.

I saw this one and it looked like the perfect solution and I must say I am happy with this little sucker! Got it home and it heated up right away. The fan is very very quiet and I love the back-lit thermostat. I tested the tip over control and it shuts off right away. The grill gets a bit hot but not so it would burn you. You can hold your hand on it for a few seconds before you feel it and then it simply feels hot enough that you know to pull your hand away. That is important to me because I have pets.

I tried a few others but they were too noisy or just did not have the features. This one is a great combo of function, features and price.

Seems to be able to heat up quite a large room (300-500 square feet)fairly quickly. I don't see any reason to buy anything else!

Make sure you have the amps. This product blew our fuse everytime. The directions state that 10 amps are needed. Our fuse in the related area of the house15 amps. Basically, we could not run any other appliance at the same time (TV in our case).

Otherwise, the unit was easy to start the first time (you have to screw on the little black base), easy to run, and provided toasty heat for the small room we had intended for it. Users are advised to keep the unit 3 feet from basically anything (walls, furniture, etc.). That information may also influence whether it is suitable for what you have in mind so I thought I'd note it.

Needing so many amps is not technically a product flaw and might not be an issue in other homes, but I wish the requirement had been stated better / somewhere in the product description. I also think my expection/assumption that a compact product like this would be suitable for my home's energy availability was reasonable. Hence 3 stars.

This heater was recommended by a major consumer review magazine and it has met my expectations. We use it in the master bathroom which is quite large and we normally only use the low heat setting to quickly warm the room. The tall narrow profile results in a small footprint that does not take up much room. It is very quiet and the option to oscillate in approximately 180 degree pattern helps to distribute the heat evenly. I have not used the option to set a temperature that the heater can automatically maintain. It also has a fan only mode. The remote is a nice convenience that allows you to change modes of operation from across the room. I would recommend this heater for someone who wants a quiet heater that can quickly warm a relatively large space. I don't give it 5 stars because the LCD display of black on grey is hard to read in low light.

We've had this heater for over a year and it has always turned right on and puts out good heat for a small model. Totally satisfied for what we use it for - a little extra heat in our family room. The noise isn't bad, it doesn't take up much room, and it's nice looking. Nothing bad to say about this heater!

My wife and I bought one of these heaters 5 years ago. We relied on it for everything, and loved it so much we bought another one a year later. Nothing but good things to say about it. No problems at all. We have one in our nursery, and the other goes where we need it to go: family room, library, toy room, etc.

These heaters can warm a bedroom in just a few minutes, and the digital temperature controls are great. Set the dial to whatever you prefer and it will hold it there. They are powerful enough to keep an unheated room warm all night in the Northwest winters, but quiet enough that it won't wake our youngest (one year old) a few feet away in her crib.

There is an econo- button that we like to use on just "cool" days, and even a fan function we have used at times near summertime before we put them back into their boxes for the warmer months. They do not work as well as a fan for summer-time use, but it does push air out OK.

When these go out, and there is no indication they ever will, we will just buy two more of these and be warm and comfortable for at least another 5 years. Couldn't be happier.

We've only had the heater for a month or so, but so far we're very happy with it. Warms our large bedroom quickly, is very quiet and the oscillation circulates the heat efficiently. Would definitely recommend it.

The Jarden consumer heater made by bionair is better than I had anticipated. I use several space heaters in my home while I run my WVO powered generator in the winter time. This heater is relativly quiet, has an easy to use thermostat, and can be a primary source of heat for up to 250square feet. The down sides to this product are that there is no ground on the electrical plug and the thermostate will only go down to 65F before going down to freeze mode at 40F. The height of this model is shorter than anticipated as well being less than knee height. For the money, it's ok, it will heat a room, but that darn electrical plug is worrysome.

My mother is 92 and used to crank the thermostat up to 80 every night. I bought her this heater based on a review in Consumer Reports. Now she can have her bedroom at 80 while I keep the rest of the house at 64. At $4.40 a gallon for heating oil, this thing paid for itself in the first month. It's small, it's quiet, it works, and it's a bargain.

The machine was not as large as the photo made it appear, (a good thing). But once the desired temperature is reached we found it continues to run.

Product does what it is expect to but it is noisy when operating. Much noiser than an older space heater that I have. Also sometimes when an auto mode it continously cycles on and off with a five second pause in between.

Bottom line: Would I buy again no; Would I recommend to a friend no.
