Perfect balance between size/performance. I like the backlit keyboard (though I've seen better but it's better than nothing). It has great performance and battery life. I wish the DVDRW tray were designed a little differently because when you close the drive; you'll sometimes clip yourself or your clothing (if seated on your lap) due to the bottom of the tray wrapping under the laptop. The keyboard is great and the overall design/quality is quite nice for the price. It's not overly prone to fingerprints but you will notice some grease spots over time. The LCD is glossy and the brightness is decent. The speakers aren't the best but they're definitely usable. Overall, I'd say in this price range that this laptop is great for students and the average user. It doesn't get too hot and operates quietly. It has a good selection of ports as well.
At the beginning it was great, wonderful. Before warranty time this note began to give me headaches. It crashed for no reason and nothing could bring it up. I was in UK and tried to use the support system there, as it was in the warranty time, but the support in UK was terrible, they kept me waiting and waiting. Then I shipped it back to US to be repaired (and then shipped it back to UK!). They repaired it in US but soon after a couple of months it had a problem in the HD and it began to crash all the time. I now face the prospect of waisting more money (I have waisted a lot on it) or buy a new one. I surely am not ever going to buy an HP note again in my life. Their support sucks and the computers do not worth the headache.
