Have always used Panasonic DVD players. The upconvert picture quality is great. But I would like to know what genius at Panasonic decided people would not mind watching an entire movie with the word Zoom 2 on the screen. We called and asked how to get it to go away
,and they said you can't on this model. We have a 58 in Plasma, and do not want to leave the bars on the top and bottom of the screen so we Zoom it like we always have with our other DVD players. To our surprise the word zoom just stayed on the screen no matter how long we waited for it to go away.So now we use our old player that allows us to zoom the bars out and doesn't stay on the screen constantly reminding us that we have the picture zoomed. What a stupid feature to ruin an otherwise great DVD player.

I would have rated this product excellent, except it lacks a track selection
indicator. This may not be a big deal; you can jump tracks using the remote, though I've not yet tried that manuever. Price, sound, picture, all great. You need an adapter to play both CD and DVD because there's one audio out. This is common. HH Gregg has them for a few bucks.

I purchased two other dvd players in the past year and sent or took them back, waiting patiently for a better model. This seems to be it...save the one lacking feature.

Cons:
No digital audio out. Yes, no coaxial or optical audio out. They removed it for this year's model. You will need to have a HDMI compatible receiver to utilize surround sound. In some cases you may be able to pass 5.1 via optical through your TV, but I wouldn't count on it.

No time remaining feature. The only OSD for a timer is the elapsed time.

USB support is nice for MP3s, but only the first 10 letters of the file name or folder appear when searching through the folders and looking for files. The screen does display the artist and song title while playing, but again only 10 or so letters. The text does not scroll.

Remote is smaller and cheaper feeling than I thought it would be.

Pros:
Plays DVDs fine. Played all dvds I threw at it without issue.

Even with the USB quirks mentioned above it does go through the folders fairly well.

For a basic DVD its fine. I wish I had spent a little more money and maybe skipped the sushi dinner instead though. Its fine for a spare bedroom or something but as your primary DVD player? Get another. The remote is small and crappy.

I am a 73 year old woman and I was able to hook this up ( be sure and order a set of HDMI cables and on this site they are under $5.00) and have it running in a matter of minutes! It plays the movies beautifully and loads so fast. One feature that is great is that you can pause a movie, turn the DVD player off and then the next day, or month for that matter, turn the player back on, push play, and it will start at the exact place you left off. Pretty cool little machine and so reasonable.

Very very good deal for the price. It is still working fine and I haven't experience any problem. I wished the devise was better responsive to the remote control. I would recommend the product!

Bought last month....works flawlessly with HDMI cable. Using with Samsung TV. Excellent picture quality. Cheapest DVD player with HDMI output I could find.

This was the 4th HDMI capable DVD player I have gotten in the past 2 weeks after my faithful LG gave up the ghost on me. 1 Coby & 2 Sony DVD players weren't compatible with my LG tv. In comes Panasonic...SUCCESS!! Set up in less than 5 minutes and works like a charm!

*Update: 11/15/13
Occasionally when I put a disc in it spins it very loudly and stays that way for a few minutes. This is a bit annoying, but something that can be overlooked.

I was at a retail store and played the same DVD in every player to see which company had the best Upscaling - transforming regular DVDs into near BluRay quality.

The Panasonic made images so clear I could read the small print on billboards and traffic signs, count individual hairs on a woman's head, even see the wrinkles in an actor's T-shirt.

Great for watching everything.

this player has hiccups on dvd-r. dvd+r and some prerorded dvds. it's an out of control industry, wheras the quality of the blank media is questionable. this particular player hiccups at every chapter, which is approximately every 8 minutes. I have not returned it because everytime you purchase one of these items, you are taking a chance on the quality. Every player has different characteristics in lieu of the blank media you are using. other than that this player is satisfactory. I can live with the hiccups, and it's not worth the hassle of returning it. By hiccups, the video seems to blink at every chapter.
