This is a very good racing flat/light trainer for an efficient runner without gait issues. I have raced and trained in a wide variety of Asics, Brooks, K-Swiss, NB, Hoka One-One; this is my current favorite for any race, tempo or track session up to 1/2 marathon (I am 155 lbs, neutral foot strike, 35-45 mi/wk). All feet are different of course, but this fits me very well, and the midsole feels somewhat forgiving, yet sensitive and flexible; shoe feels very light and rolls comfortably from midfoot to toe. I have only about 100 miles on it, so durability remains to be seen.

After recently losing (literally) a shoe to the mud and muck in a recent trail race I had to run out and get new running kicks. I didn't purchase these on Amazon, rather I picked them up at my local running store.

I previously ran in Brooks ST4 Racers. They were also light and considered racing flats, but these are a bit lighter (2 oz) and have less heel/toe drop. The 1400s were the first shoe I tried on and after trying about 6 or 7 others they were still the ones that felt best. Obviously foot shape is different for all folks, but I loved the snug fit of the 1400 in the middle of my foot and the breathing room they have up front.

The 1400 are extremely lightweight and while they are cushioned, they don't have much in the way of stability control. This is just how I like my shoes, so another plus. My first run was a set of hard intervals and I could hardly notice the shoes on my feet.

While I do strongly endorse these shoes, I highly recommend trying to get them at a place where you can try them on. Or, at least sizing and testing first and then ordering.

I have been wearing all new balance minimus shoes for the past few years as I have been almost exclusively trail running; however, a job and schedule switch has forced me to run more roads. The 1400s are light and flexible, but add a little more cushion for pounding the pavement. I'm getting use to the taller heel drop again and the toe box is definitely narrower than the minimus line, but I knew that was the case with these shoes when I ordered them. They fit me true to size with other new balance products. Good buy!

I've run multiple marathons/half-marathons/5K's over the past 8 years or so. This shoe is by far the lightest, most comfortable shoe I've ever owned. Just bought my 3rd pair in a row! Unlike other lightweight shoes, these DON'T wear-out quickly! Great minimalist shoe without the pain of no-arch-support experienced with other minimalist shoes. Awesome job NB!!

I absolutely love these shoes! The colors are vibrant. The fit was *perfect* for my feet. I have long, narrow-regular width feet. Bought them in a men's 12, best way to go when you're a woman with longer feet. Had never owned a pair of running shoes. They didn't crowd my toes, and didn't leave my arches or the width swimming. I didn't have to tie them super tight to keep them snug either, like I have had to do with other men's shoes.

I'm not a runner so I cannot attest to their support and durability while running, but as for walking, daily wear, routine use, they are fantastic! I'm totally hooked. Far less bulky than a standard cross trainer, more cushioned and supportive than wearing skaters and other casual shoes. I was so happy with them I almost bought a couple other colors immediately... had I the money to do so, I would have!

Will say that the colors of the purple/orange pair are so vibrant that I've had people comment on them, even after months of wear. One friend even good-naturedly makes fun of me for how bright they are. In that sense, I think they would easily increase visibility if wearing them while running outside.

I love these shoes!! I wear them for cross training (the elliptical) and for running on the treadmill. These are also my go-to shoes for races (5K-1/2 marathon). I did switchout the liner for a pair of insoles for a bit more arch support (I wear the same pair of insoles in all my shoes, so it's not the fault of these shoes, I just like the same feel under my foot at all times regardless of shoe). The biggest thing I love about these shoes is that I have issues with bunions (big and little toe) and the overlays of this shoe don't irritate my bunions. The shoes also have good traction and are very lightweight. Also love that there is a little bit of a heel:too difference (I'm not a fan of zero drop shoes).

Bought them for marathon training when I was doing about 55 miles/week and wore them for 1-2 workouts/week. Fit well and were very light and comfortable. They really felt great on runs up to about 16 miles and for up tempo workouts. Unfortunately I have had them for about 4 months now and haven't put that many miles on them in comparison to my other shoes and can tell they have all but lost the support I need for longer runs. If the price is right they are a good shoe to have in the arsenal but not the go to for high mileage training.

I did not buy them on Amazon, but I bought them to run on either a treadmill or outdoors. I do not race. These shoes fit great and are extremely comfortable. I'm over 200 lbs and these shoes have helped alleviate some of the soreness I feel in my knee after running (like I did with the Ascics and Nike's I used before these.)

These are a solid buy for beginners and racers. Check around, I found them for $45 a few months ago at a big chain sneaker store.
