I tend to purchase Apple iPod products and thus my familiarity is only with an iPod but my wife has been wanting one and has been looking for a cheap 4GB MP3 player. And thus we tried the Sylvania 4GB color screen MP3 player (which was like $30 new).

I was using my Mac to load the MP3 player Your computer should detect a USB drive and all you have to do is move your playlist (or named folder with MP3's, pictures or videos) to the player.

Now, this is where things get a little complicated. If you are use to an iPod, it's not as easy as click on playlist and finding your song within seconds. So for those who are driving and want to get to an album, it's not going to be easy. You will need to click on the root and get to a certain file and it doesn't separate music, pictures or videos, you will need to cycle through it. Sometimes, finding where things are located can take some time but if you follow the instructions carefully, you'll get the hang of it.

If I had one problem with the file transfers, not sure if it's just my Mac that caused it but you would get the correct MP3 and a secondary temp file included of that MP3 file. You will need to manually delete those temp files and can be time consuming if you just loaded many albums to your player. But if you don't, you're MP3 player will not go to the next song after one song is complete. It will just stop.

I like the GUI colored screen but it may be busy for some people. I like how it comes with a mic, document viewer and a few games.

As for pictures, player plays JPG's and for video, the software comes with an .amv converter.

Overall, My wife enjoys the MP3 player and feels that the price was very good for a 4GB player. As for me, felt it was good for its price but wasn't as user-friendly but for its price, it does its job and comes with a good number of bells and whistles to make a great first time MP3 player.

I had an easy time using this MP3 player. It is pretty self explanatory. I was able to easily load all types of music files and videos on to it, by just attaching it to my computer. The menus are clear and simple to navigate through. The MP3 player looks almost identical to an ipod. It is great to listen to music on, and i also watch videos on it occasionally. One really neat feature is the voice recording function included. I have recorded lots of things on it, and then transfered it to my computer, or played it back...the sound quality is excellent.
I think this is a great MP3 player for the price. Not its not an ipod, but for a fraction of the price you get lots of great features, and the ipod look. One last comment, I lent this to my 9 year old child who went on a day trip with her class, and she loved the games and had no problem using all the features, so it is child friendly too.

I recently got this and must admit that it is a good deal for the price. However, the buttons are a little hard to use and there is so far no ovbious multitasking. The earbuds that come with it have good sound quality and thats a nice included bonus. If you are looking for a VERY simple mp3 player then I reccomend this. There are three simple games, music ( duh! ), videos, pictures, voice recording, and mp3 ebooks ( additional downloads and prices . It comes with an easy connecting cord to your PC. It is extremely light but still nice to hold. It is slow to load and turn on. It has a sleek, modern look but the features do not totally match that.

This is a great sounding, pretty easy to use unit, but be warned it is NOT COMPATIBLE WITH I TUNES if you're using a Mac. Other than that, I could not be happier with the product.

Was so excited to buy this, great price...the equalizer is fake. After 2 days, the buttons are already starting to fail. After 20 seconds into a song, it gets static and stops. Slow to turn on and to go to the next song. Would NOT recommend it!!

I did not like this product. Setup was funky, odd to navigate and just generally wasn't what I was looking for. I mean I guess if your just looking for something that plays the music exactly how you put it on there, then it's fine. However there is legitimately no way to shuffle your music and that is what I was looking for.

I thought the product quality was just ok while viewing the product details but when I actually tried my new MP3 player, it was quite better than I expected. It works perfectly. The packaging that came with it was great too.

Been using my MP3 player frequently and so far its performance is quite exceptional, mostly thanks to its long battery life.

Now, I can say that my very first purchase here is pretty much successful! :)

This unit was very disappointing. It plays some MP3s but not others (no DRM on these). Won't play any of my WMA files (some DRM, some not). My Sansas will play all these files. It is a brick.

This item is extremely low-quality. I wasn't expecting much for $17, but I thought it would at least work for longer than 10 days. The on/off switch and play button both started to wear out after just a few days. It only turns on when it feels like it. Thank goodness for Amazon's awesome customer service - sending this back for a refund.

For the price, this item works fine. The main problem is that it is hard to find the song you want. They are not categorized at all, you have to flip through every song until you get to the one you want.
