Best ear buds I've ever had.
on October 2, 2013
First of all, I'm tired of reading reviews about the fit of this or any earbud style headphone. Everyone's ear canals are different! That is just the facts of life when looking at this type of headphone. Personally, I find the fit of the stock earpieces to be fine. I have tried the Comply tips and found then to be also of good quality (although I tire of squishing them before inserting and they tend to get pretty dirty). If the Jays won't fit, try another brand. I'm sure at this point that there is no universal design that fits everyone.
With that out of the way... I find these to be great sounding earbuds. They have rich detail with a bit of oomph on the low end (personally I like a bass heavy earbud, the majority of the time I'm wearing them on a noisy bus or outside where a more balanced "audiophile" balance would only be drowned out, even with a good seal). The ribbon cables are a godsend, they never tangle! Yes, they are a bit heavy and yes, they transmit a bit of noise when bouncing around, I wouldn't recommend them to joggers.
I've used them often for phone calls and have never had any complaints about noise or clarity from people at the other end, I'm not sure what other negative reviewers have been doing?
My one big knock is that after two years of heavy use the right earbud has shorted out at the plug. I thought the good looking quality construction would avoid this, but..? I can honestly say that over the last twenty years I've yet to find a pair that didn't eventually go out (and I've had Sony, Klipsch, V-Moda, Sennheiser etc...). That's it, buy and enjoy...
