From An Atheletic Garment To A Modesty Garment?
on November 16, 2014
Well strange things have happened to me in my life, but not many much stranger than THIS...But having surfed all over this world with my wife who also surfed by my side, I had the misfortune to have just been forced to have a Mastectomy after a tumor was discovered during the course of 3 OTHER Emergency surgeries that came out of nowhere in April of this year. As a MAN, it has been a shock that I just never expected. Not to mention my back looks like a carved up turkey carcass.... So I found myself wishing I could find a rash guard that fit loose and not body forming like I have worn for over 30 years under my surfing wetsuits. Because NOW, I needed it to cover up the horrific scars so I could still at least use my hot tub and swim when I am strong enough eventually without grossing out my own wife and others around me who would be very unprepared for seeing the scars left behind. Even having lost over 55 pounds in just a couple months, my conventional rash guards were still the "clingy" style. This is nicer for me NOW since it is more of a tee shirt style, loose fitting and better lends itself to not let the scars/deformities show through. I am not used to feeling "shame" or this level of embarrassment and find it highly traumatic to be honest.....
Maybe my need for this is unconventional for this but my gratitude for this product is anything but. I LOVE it, it fits a bit large and loose which is exactly what it was I was looking for. In all my life I never could have guess that I would EVER have THIS need for a product like this....But all I can say is an honest heartfelt thank you to Speedo for manufacturing it, even if MY use for it is not for the use as it was intended for.
