This is the greatest novel from a pioneer in Peruvian literature. It showcases the plight of the native peoples in Peru and is one of the principal works of the school known as "indigenismo." Gives great insights into the topics of racism and class domination. Caveat: you have to have a good level of Spanish to understand it.
