The list author says: "My baby grew quickly to be above the 97 percentile curve for height, and stayed there. Apparently his emotional temperament is "active baby" i.e. he is very strong and adventurous and walked at 9 months, running around since 10 months. I bought him a few products to keep him stimulated and happy along the way. Here they are. (Note: Baby was able to briefly hold his own head the night he was born, very strong neck muscles. I write this list, but my baby was always strong enough to engage in the toy provided, they were not taxing to his neck strength, etc. I'm writing this as input for the parents of the high percentile, "bam bam" babies out there, and parents should always understand the manufacturer's age guidelines. I don't recommend disobeying them.) [V.3 - 1/18/2011 - Not quite done, will update later.]"
"Bought for age 2 months. He loved this play gym, kicking the little blue elephant, and the little rattle toucan. He also loved the music and lights, and looking in the mirror. He turned over both front to back and back to front (age 4 months) while lying in this play gym. Good choice for any baby, in my opinion. He is still nostalgic over this play gym at almost one year...."
"The best. He loved it starting at age 2.5 months, helped develop his core/sitting muscles (neck muscles already strong). Music really entertained him. Needed phone books for the first couple of weeks. Learned cause and effect, jumping causes music to activate."
"Bought at the beginning of Age 3 months. Helped him develop his core/sitting muscles. We only used for a month (we moved, couldn't take it), but we could see a difference in one month. End result: Sitting confidently at the beginning of Month 5."
"Bought at age 3 months. At that time used it to prop him up a bit in a lounging position. At 4&5 months he was using it to help himself sit upright. At 10 months he started flipping it over himself and crawling like a little "hermit crab" around the living room. At 12.5 months now, it is a favorite toy, played with over two hours a day. Farm animals nice to teach Baby. Travels excellent."
"Bought at the end of age 2 months (very strong neck, very strong core muscles). Excellent product for tall babies, at its lowest height he was able to walk around at about 25 inches. The musical and lights part of the toy is excellent, prevents frustration. Helped keep him happy and active, hard to achieve for the active young baby."
"It really worked for us starting at age 4 months because I could put the shoulder harness on him,and he could hold onto the side rails. I would wheel him around our apartment. As he got up to 9 months, it got too tippy with the side rails."
"We bought at 9 months, but wished I had bought it sooner. It makes a cheerful little musical tone as it's rolled along the floor. It's musical selections have an "island" sound to them, which is refreshing. Not irritating to the parent. Would have been great for the 6 month baby. At 12.5 months now, he loves this little drum. He plays with it every day several times a day."
"Bought at age 8 months, but he had to grow into it during age 9 months, and a current favorite at almost one year. It's really loads of fun, the balls roll and drop and there are sounds to accompany. Very stable, but keep an eye on them, if they grab the funnels it can tip (but almost anything can...)"
