5.0 out of 5 stars Like a time capsule transporting you back to the 1960s...
Let me tell you how I found the IT'S MY PARTY! group. I was using Pandora internet "radio" (have you tried that yet?) and I put in my "Radio Station" to be like some of the 60's music and this song came up, "Kiss Me Sailor" by Diane Renay. Well, I never heard of Diane Renay, but I liked the song. It was very catchy. So, I decided to do some searching on good ol' You...

I had thoroughly enjoyed the first It's My Party CD (Can I Get to Know You Better), and had nearly given up hope of them ever releasing another. So it was with great eagerness that I ordered R.S.V.P. Upon playing it, most of the same elements were there: the evocation of the early 60's girl groups, the harmonies, the song content, and the music. But whereas the...

So, I decided to do some searching on good ol' You Tube. I found some clips of Diane Renay singing, but then there was this clip of three young ladies singing "Kiss Me Sailor."

It was the girls from IT'S MY PARTY! singing "Kiss Me Sailor" in a clip from 2007. I never heard of them, so I went to their website [..] and read all about this amazing "project". Young ladies and a great band recreating the hits of girl groups from the 1960s. Simply amazing. So, I wrote the following comment on You Tube:
"You girls are very talented. You have captured the exact essence of the greatness of the girl groups of the 60s. And the guys in the band also capture the spirit. I like that they are wearing suits that look like the 60s.. especially the THIN ties. That's what they wore in the early to mid-60s. It's the little things that make the whole "It's My Party" experience authentic and FUN! AND... you would make Diane Renay proud with your rendition of "Kiss Me Sailor". Keep up the GREAT work!!!"

Then... I downloaded the MP3 of "R.S.V.P." the IT'S MY PARTY! new CD. Definitely worth it. The sound is great!

I have to disagree with the previous comment that says the songs aren't as "memorable" or "unique" as the previous CD. There are definitely songs that are "hummable".. like "Kiss Me Sailor"... you can't tell me that you won't be singing that song in your head and even out loud for days afterwards.

Highly recommended. And keep up the great work all you IT'S MY PARTY! people!

5.0 out of 5 stars Here's a Party You Won't Want to Miss!, February 9, 2008
This review is from: r.s.v.p. (Audio CD)
If you love the music of the 1960's you will absolutely cherish this CD. It's a wonderful blend of originals and remakes of some of the lost treasures of that decade. It's the same basic formula employed on their first CD, and it's a great concept because you're going to enjoy songs you've never heard before, not established hits that you're all too familiar with. It's like somehow entering a time capsule and being transported back to an earlier, more innocent, period in your life when you couldn't wait to rush to the record store to buy that new slab of vinyl from your favorite group. (The disc itself is even designed to look like a vinyl record.) If you remember that feeling and want to experience it again with a new collection of wonderful songs, this is a must-have CD.

If you love the music of the 1960s this cd is a must have. Great tunes with exceptional harmonies. This cd took me back to the days when they made really great music.

But whereas the previous CD had some unforgettable songs on it, this one simply doesn't match up. The songs are interesting, entertaining, but they aren't the kind of songs you'll be humming later on. Personally, I didn't feel there was a single song on this CD that would have made the hit parade or top forty in 1962. Yes, this is entertaining, and if you enjoyed that era of girl groups, you will find this interesting. But is it a CD you'll play over and over? I don't think so. I would give the previous CD four or five stars, but I can only muster three for this one.
