Good Protection, But Slightly Overpriced,
By
This review is from: reEVOlution iSkin eVo2 for 20 GB iPod classic 4G (Arctic) (Electronics)
The ISkin Evo2 is certainly a good way of protecting your IPod. I am satisfied with the overall protection the iskin provides, especially since it has a screen protector which is one of the biggest reasons I purchased it.
Unlike Apple's black leather casing which doesn't allow you to operate the IPod while it's in the case, this product is molded to an almost perfect fit to the IPod and leaves openings for you to operate the click wheel, plug in your head phones, toggle the hold switch, and charge the IPod without having to take the ISkin off. Overall, the ISkin Evo2 is a decent product when it comes to protecting your IPod. The only negative part about the ISkin is that the belt clip is not stirty at all and you're essentially paying $30.00 for a piece rubber. But it certainly gets the job done, which is why it is a must buy for those who want to protect their IPod.

Bought this for my iPod Photo 60 GB, yesterday. There are no specific iPod cases for the 60 GB variety at this point and I was a little concerned whether this would fit. Gladly, it did.
iSkin is similar to Jam jacket and it gives good protection for iPod. This product is available in multiple colors, in addition to the clear version. Good points: 1) Good protection for iPod, from scratches and minor falls 2) Fits iPod 40 GB, iPod Photo 40 GB, as well as iPod Photo 60 GB 3) Uses a separate hard plastic screen protector that doesn't stick or attract dirt 4) Has perforations to prevent bubbles 5) Has a belt clip that can be rotated 6) Doesn't have a bulge around the dock port like some other iPod cases; instead it has a collapsable tab Bad points: 1) Can't insert into the dock as the bottom is too thick with the jacket 2) The silicone body tends to attract dust and lint (may demand frequent cleaning) 3) Like most cases, makes the iPod a little bulky and hence unsuitable for some of the accessories that are made to fit the unadorned iPod only 4) The rotary belt clip is a little difficult to use and it may not lost long if used often 5) Covers the top of the iPod and makes it difficult to use the accessories that sit on the iPod (like FM transmitter, Navipod etc.) If you are crazy about the iPod dock, look for a jacket that opens in the bottom to make room for the dock's jack. I have seen such products but never explored them since I am not a fan of the dock!

My daughter got an iPod last Christmas and a few days later got an iSkin to 'protect' it. This Christmas I had to bring the iPod in to Apple because it had the sad iPod icon and it wasn't being recognized by our computer -we couldn't even charge it. The first thing the guy at Apple ask was if we used an iSkin cover. He said using the clip on the back will dent the back of an iPod over a period of time and the hard drive is right under were it dents. Of course it happened just after our 1 year warranty was up. Our next iPod will definietly have a different case!

A good case with a few flaws,

When I first got my iPod, I was obsessed with keeping it as scratch free and beautiful as the day I got it. I still am. This case was an almost immediate purchase and seemed, from what I had read, the perfect solution: a case that allows access to all features while protecting them and adding little extra bulk but maintaining the distinct iPod look.
When I first got my case and put it on, I was, initially, less than enthused. The cover did not retain the iPod look as well as I had hoped but it appeared, with the wheel cover and screen cover, that my iPod would be fully protected but still, it just destroyed the sexiness of the iPod! As I explained to my roommate, the iSkin is a lot like a condom: you don't want to wear one but you know you should. So over the span of a month that I've had the case, I've developed a specific set of problems which is leading me to invest in iPod armor. The first problem is the belt clip. I don't use it at all, it stays at home sitting on my desk. But still have those stupid pegs sticking out of the back. And, from what I've read, the disc that these pins are anchored to could potentially dent and damage my iPod. I thought I had solved this problem the first time I removed the iSkin for cleaning - the disc came out! Unfortunately, that loosened the tension on the skin and allow the skin to slide around easily so I had to put it back. I find that, generally, the pegs make sliding this in and out of my pocket a bit of a chore. Especially when coupled with the gripping power of the silicone. My second complaint is the protective screen. I thought it to be awesome that they found a way to make it fit in there smoothly without any kind of adhesive. But now, my screen slides around way too easy, causing the skin to over lap onto it on the bottom end or making it crooked. It feels like I'm constantly re-adjusting it. The click wheel protector is a bit annoying, as well, because it tends to have air beneath it that I can't get out which gives it a weird tactile feel whenever I click the center of the click wheel. Overall, the iSkin does what I needed: protects my iPod from daily scratches and scrapes. I wouldn't trust this case to protect it from a fall, though. The reason I gave this case three stars is because of the pegs that the belt clip mounts to and the sliding screen. These are annoyances which, when you're carrying this around daily, really start to get to you. If you're just looking to protect your iPod from cosmetic scratches, this is a worthwhile investment. I plan to start biking with mine so, the current problems coupled with the threat of it hitting hard pavement have led me to look at purchasing Matias iPod armor. As a side note, I bought my girlfriend an iSkin for her iPod mini and the fit and feel of it was most definitely tighter and the screen seemed very secure. So if you have a mini and need a skin, I would consider the iSkin mini.

iSkin makes great products, don't be tempted by the cheep knock-offs. The silicone case is perfectly molded to fit the iPod, it doesn't let any dust or debris in and the iPod looks great in the case. I bought an iSkin for my little brother when he got his iPod as a graduation gift. My brother is horribly abusive with his iPod, plays basketball, puts it in his pocket, takes it everywhere, etc. Going on a year and a half and his iPod lives in the iSkin case and looks and works just like new. Yes, it's a little price, but after you've spent all that money on an iPod, what's a couple more bucks to keep it looking good as new. My highest recommendation.

This is a freat case for any regular ipod, i just cant get over that guy who dented his ipod on the back! When i first bought this, all i had to do was remove the whole belt clip altogether! this provides great protection without the chance of denting or scrathing your beloved ipod. Besides, the clip is a waste of product, as people who wear ipods on their belts look like dorks, and i usually laugh at them!

when the ipod and hte iskinevo2 is in my pocket and a small amount of presure was applied the extremities if the clip caused a great amount of pressure and made two large dents into the ipod. i was soooooo mad.. i burned it!!!!! i called the iskin company and we are in communication and are aware of this issue. there should be something to protect it and its too hard.. The case is very bulky and attract alot of lint..terrible. If you have any questions email me at alejode@bellsouth.net

I bought this skin because I needed something sturdy to work out with, but I hate arm bands. The very first time I used this case was during a 5K and about 10 steps into the race, the belt clip broke and I was forced to carry my Ipod through the entire race! If you want your case to provide anything but a slick outside I would instead recommend a simple leather case I bought at JCPenney for $10!
