Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

This is a handsomely produced tribute to one of the 20th century's most influential sculptors. Written by a fellow national, the discursive text throws fascinating sidelights on Brancusi's Romanian heritage and art historical associations. An illuminating section evaluates the artist's monumental, uncompleted projects: the Targu-Jui ensemble, and the Temple of Meditation of Indore. The book's thoughtful analysis of sculptural processes, its comprehensive photographs, and its price make it a purchase for large and specialized collections. A catalogue raisonne of Brancusi's work will be forthcoming. Paula A. Baxter, Museum of Modern Art Lib., New York

A profound and brilliant study on an icon of modern sculpture. Not only are the illustrations beautiful but the text is also enlightening, allowing some insights into the artist's personality through vividly told anecdotes. One of the best art books I have ever read.Worth every penny!
