Product Description

red line logored line speedometer image

Ever drive down a barren highway, wondering what it might be like to red line? To feel the danger, freedom and exhilaration that overwhelms your senses when you hit the gas?

In life, there are moments where to "red line" means deciding that reward on the horizon outweighs the risk. Where to "red line" means that we are willing to go beyond our comfort zone and strive for greatness.

The founders of red line/a_line—manufacturers of luxury timepieces for over three decades—have held true to the belief that a person's watch should symbolize something beyond just minute hands and push buttons. After all, we look at our watch more times than we look at anything else. It should symbolize more to its owner.

So while each red line/a_line timepiece is manufactured to the highest of standards, it is more than about telling time. The signature red crown on every red line watch should serve as a constant reminder that in life risks are worth taking; that it is ok to go beyond your limits and to Never Look Back.

I paid $50 for this watch because I liked the looks (see below) and because I wanted a watch that I would be upset if I got scratched when I was working in the shop.

Now having seen it, I'd certainly have paid $100 without feeling I'd overpaid, and I think I've failed as I hate the idea of scratching it up. yes, the band is silicone and the right at the outside of the dial is also, and I thought that would make the watch look cheap, but it doesn't. The silicone feels nicer than I thought it would; this is my first silicone band.

What drew me to the watch is that I'm far-sighted and with age I find that I no longer wear the collection of chronographs I have as they're too visually 'busy' for me to glance at them without my glasses on and see the time. I liked that this was a black face with easy to see hour markers and hands. Or at least, that's what I hoped for (it's sometimes hard to tell from the pictures and I've been wrong before), and in this case I was right.

I like the green but had they not had it I'd gave gotten the yellow too. (I didn't think the blue or red would stand out enough for me.) And it's perfect: The hands are easily visible and it's easy to tell which is the minute and which the hour (not always the case). Something unusual about the way the color is done: red line has enamaled most of the green color: the hour dots, and the green on the minute, hour, and second hands, is enameled and it looks great. I think the 'red line' is too, but it's subtle enough I'm not sure. The only green parts that aren't enameled are the printed things like the 5 minute number (5, 10 15...).

I also find the entire look very handsome, enough so that I may get one in another color.

The only thing I don't like is that the red crown, while the trademark of the brand, would be better off, I think, in black.

This is a large watch. You might want to reconsider if you have small wrists. It is also quite heavy. Difficult sometimes to get my shirt sleeves over the watch given it's large dial and sticky strap.

However, it looks nice and well made and the rubber strap is comfortable. This watch does not look nor feel cheap!

My biggest gripe is that it cannot get the date right, no matter what time I readjust for it. Most often the date advances ahead of time.

Also, the dials are not as luminous as I hoped. Very difficult to tell time in the dark.

Barring the issue with the date, I would recommend this watch.

Bought this watch for my husband. He loves it. Very comfortable and and not too big, but easy to read.

I never purchase anything without thoroughly investigating an item. I also prefer to buy things that are not "typical" or "common". So, when I found myself in the market for a new watch, I began my search.

I have worn the Red Line 18001-0BB-01GN Compressor for about 4 months now. The watch looks very nice, and I often get compliments on it. Its face is easy to read, and minimal lighting at night will allow you to read the time.

The large signature red twist knob on the side of the watch took a little getting used to. It is VERY LARGE and is something you have to learn to ignore. However, it is very functional and allows for easy twist (even with gloves on).

The face of the watch scratched about 3 months into having it. I am not sure how I actually did it, but I can guarantee that it was not a major impact on the watch. Normal run of the mill wear somehow caused about a 1/2" scratch right down the middle of the face. I can forgive this easily. I am rough on watches, so I'll chalk that up to probably being my fault.

The watch band also took a little getting used to. It is a comfortable silicone band. The thickness is very deceiving. You would assume it would be uncomfortable and inflexible. This is not the case. It is comfortable even through long 18 hour days. However, one of the silicone loops that the excess band is fed through broke within 1 month of receiving the watch.

Overall, this watch was a good buy. The price was great, it has been fairly durable (to include weather resistant) and it looks great (beware, it is LARGE). I will definitely purchase another Red Line brand watch in the future.
