what does RENTAL READY mean on a listing of a DVD for sale?

Matt Super says:
In an effort to speed things up and narrow this gap between cinematic run and DVD/BluRay release, many studios are now releasing "Rental Ready" copies of films. Rental Readies are basically DVD/BluRay versions of films that are rushed to the presses for release. In doing so they don't contain any of the bells and whistles (interviews, voice-over commentaries, etc.), as these take time and money to put together.
It should also be noted that "special features" often includes the widescreen format, so in many "rental ready" cases, the edition's aspect ratio may be the dreaded "formatted to fit your screen," or in other words, chopped.
