I had all kinds of problems and am now on my 3rd Kindle, 2 of which I had to pay for. The problem took over 2 years and a lot of frustration to resolve. They did ask me about my cover but always referred to a black one. Mine was blue and they said that was not the problem. After I gave up with the Kindle support and pulled the little hooks out of the cover, no more problems with my Kindle. I still did not trust the cover because it still had a metal strip in the binder. Bought another one that the Kindle lays in and there are no hooks or metal. I wrote to Kindle hoping to be reimbursed for the last one I had bought but to no avail. Never even got an answer. Happy with my Kindle now working fine due to my fixing the probem!!!
I don't have have any of these problems with the case. Even though my use has been sparse lately I've had the device with the cover for about four months and never really used the device without the cover.
