This review is from: Clarisonic- Waterproof Skin Care System, 1 System (Health and Beauty)
Have been using this for 2 weeks and my skin feels super clean and smooth! It's expensive, but I figure by using the brush, at least I no longer have to buy scrubbing creams to exfoliate. It could just be wishful thinking, but I'm convinced it's somehow erasing my laugh lines; will have to watch that over the longer term. And I have sensitive skin, but this is surprisingly gentle -- you don't really scrub your face with it... the sonic technology seems to do the work for you.
The only downside is that the beep settings take a while to get used to (you have to set your preferences by setting the beep tones, sort of confusing -- why no real buttons?), not such a big deal once you get it set the way you plan to use it.
Positives: Skin feels clean, smooth, and tingly; can use in shower; wrinkle remover?
Negatives: Expensive
Overall, great product.

I bought this after reading reviews of several similar products in the Wall Street Journal.
I've had mild acne into my adult life, which seems to get worse with stress and humid weather. My skin might be described as mildly oily. I also get some light blemishes around my lower neck area, which I attribute to shaving.
In general this product works as advertised. My skin feels less oily, and definitely "tighter". While it hasn't eliminated my acne 100%, it does seem to have lessened it.
The areas it hasn't seemed to make a big difference on is the "razor" burn type blemishes under my neck. I think that is simply due to the nature of that sensitive area.
I doubt if the special lotion that is sold as a sister product truly makes a huge difference. I've used the special lotion, and regular soap and water with similar positive results.
In general I think the product lives up to its claims. The product literature doesn't make wild unattainable promises. It simply says it can clean your face up to 2 times better than a regular washing. I think it hits that mark. I would recommend the product overall, but I'm giving it 3 stars for it's high price. Unexpected Benefit, April 6, 2007
This review is from: Clarisonic- Waterproof Skin Care System, 1 System (Health and Beauty)
I bought the Clarisonic hoping that it would unclog the large pores on my nose. Little by little, it is accomplishing that. I use the normal brush without irritation and it has definitely polished my skin. Now that it's smoother I feel like I'm using less moisturizer on my face. A little bit goes much farther now. I am 50 and have had dry, flaky skin...but since using the Clarisonic the moisture level on my skin feels much more "normal." It seems like the pores are unclogging and are operating like they should be now, and I don't get the patchy dry areas like I used to. Now, to the unexpected benefit: I did not at all expect the dark circles under my eyes to disappear, but they are totally gone. I haven't used undereye concealer for the past five days! The directions caution you not to use the unit near your eyes, but I use it on my under-eye area. I think the gentle massage gets things circulating there and keeps dark circles from developing under the skin. My skin feels tighter and firmer as well. I love how you can use it in the shower, and it's great on the upper chest area, too. I highly recommend it. As long as it is reliable, and lasts, I think it's worth the money.

I didn't expect it would be this good!!!, March 9, 2006
This review is from: Clarisonic- Waterproof Skin Care System, 1 System (Health and Beauty)
I had constant white flaky build up near my nose, which really shows up because I am African-American. My skin was dry and flaky all the time. Blackheads and large pores on my nose forced me to make the purchase. It is a bit pricey but I knew I could return it to Saks with no problem if I didn't like it. After the very first use, I knew there was no way this baby was going back. I use it every other day; I use the sensitive brush. I love it! It's worth every penny.

So Far, So Good!, June 17, 2009
This review is from: Clarisonic- Waterproof Skin Care System, 1 System (Health and Beauty)
I purchased the Clarisonic after much frustration with my skin.. I am 34yrs old and my skin is prone to breakouts, and is very congested with small bumps under it, I am always using scrubs and peels in an attempt to bring the bumps to the surface, which has varying results.. often my skin becomes irritated from the scrubs and the result is pretty bad looking, uneven, bumpy skin. I have spent plenty of money over the years on various products that haven't really worked, and facials etc etc. I did use ProActiv - which helped with the acne but I find it just way too drying for prolonged use. Not to mention the hassle of ordering it. I also tried Retin-A prescribed by dermatologist on the bumps.. that sort of works, but it makes the skin irritated and peel and I cannot use it on a regular basis.
So.. after reading many good reviews, I decided to give the Clarisonic a try. Figured it would be worth the price if it actually worked. I have a Sonicare toothbrush, so I know how much better that is than a regular toothbrush, so it made sense to me...
Anyway.. just three days into my use of the Clarisonic, here are my results so far:
- First Impression: the thing is bigger than I thought it would be? I guess it needs to be that big to be waterproof.
- It came with the Sensitive brush head, so I am using that. I did NOT use the trial cleansers provided, as I read that many others had bad experience with those products.
- The first use; I followed the directions, and was actually surprised at the action of the brush: it is not the 'circular scrubbing' motion that I had anticipated. In fact I would not say that it "scrubs" at all. Rather, it vibrates and very high speed, and the brush gently moves. You are supposed to move the brush gently in a small circular motion, and not apply pressure, just let the brush do the work. After the first use, I was not really convinced of the merits of the brush.
- Second use (in the shower this time).. getting the hang of it better now.. After emerging from the shower, I was surprised to notice a change in my skin. It looks incredibly clean, for a start. Pores on my nose less visible. Pores look very clean. Bumps on cheeks are reduced. Tone is more even. I used probably half the amount of moisturizer that I normally use. Wow, I am impressed. Looking forward to next use!
- Third / fourth use - OK think I am getting addicted. The results are astounding. After just three days, my skin looks completely different. The Clarisonic obviously does such a superior job of cleansing the skin, once you try it there is no going back! Apart from the cleansing, it also seems to improve fine lines, tone/evenness and firmness. I can't wait to see how my skin looks in another week or two.
Even some of the most stubborn bumps/spots under my jaw have started to come to the surface now, and instead of being horrible painful things, they just sort of naturally came to the surface and were easily pushed out (sorry, gross)..
It is interesting to see how clean the skin actually is with the Clarisonic; I did a test of washing my face "old school" (no clarisonic) with my cleanser, then followed by the Tea Tree wipe (see PRODUCTS below). I actually had to use two wipes because there was so much makeup/dirt residue left on the skin. When I use the Clarisonic with the same cleanser, I use one wipe and it comes up almost clean - the only area it picks up any visible residue is around the hairline/ear where the Clarisonic doesn't reach.
PRODUCTS: I am using Cetaphil for Normal/Oily skin, which seems to be a terrific combination with the Clarisonic - highly recommend it. It also removes my eye makeup nicely (of course don't use the clarisonic on your eyes). I also picked up some Desert Essence Natural Tea Tree Cleaning Pads ($3 for 50 at Trader Joe's) to use as a toner after cleansing. I do a quick wipe (be gentle) with a pad after cleansing with the Clarisonic. I find they are very good for the difficult to reach areas around my ears/hairline/jawline to remove last traces of oil etc, and as a general antiseptic toner on the rest of my face. Follow with a quick rinse off with clean water.. feels so clean and tingly!
Moisturizing: Remember you will need to use A LOT LESS of your other products with the Clarisonic. I am using about half the amt of moisturizer than I did before.
Makeup: I have found that Bare Minerals makeup is the way to go, especially in summer. I do use a liquid foundation if I'm going out, but for day to day, Mineral makeup is the way to go. It also applies much easier with the Clarisonic.
Hygeine: I suggest washing the brush head with an antibacterial hand soap and hot water every few uses, and also don't leave your brush in the shower; put it somewhere where it can dry out between uses, this will help avoid bacteria growing on it.
In Summary: AAA++++ If you are on the fence; definitely give it a try; buy it from an authorized retailer so you can return it if you don't like it.

A fantastic way to cleanse and exfoliate!, February 21, 2006
This review is from: Clarisonic- Waterproof Skin Care System, 1 System (Health and Beauty)
You can best describe my skin as "congested." I have acne every once in a while (mostly stress-related) and my skin is bumpy with congestion, especially on my chin and forehead.
I think I've read every online review there is of this product! Since it's so expensive, I wanted to be sure. I'm a skincare junkie so I know my products. This is the best skincare product I have!
I've been using the Clarisonic for a month now. Within the first week, I noticed my skin had a smoother feel to it. I could run my hand over it and not feel as many bumps or dry patches. Over the next few weeks, I had less congestion and acne (despite the stress!). I also have fair skin, which means it turns red with even the slightest bit of pressure. After each use, it is a bit red, but it doesn't last long. The way the brush works allows it to be highly effective while using a minimal amount of pressure.
I use it twice a day with Bliss Clog-Dissolving Cleansing Milk. If you like your cleanser, then stick with it. The cleanser that comes with it is not good; it contains ingredients that will clog pores, which is disappointing considering the price of the Clarisonic package. I use the sensetive skin brush and use it as initially directed: 10 seconds on each cheek and 20 seconds on the forehead, nose and chin. I also use it on my neck where a lot of my congestion occurs. I'll mention that all the beeps and timers take some getting used to; I set mine to the 2-minute setting.
My facial products (moisturizer, toner, makeup) all absorb much better, allowing me to use less of the product. My toner especially feels like it's being absorbed deeper into my skin.
If you have acne, I would be very careful about how you use the brush, especially if you have pustular or cystic acne. You'd be essentially spreading the bacteria around on your face if you weren't using an antibacterial face wash. Just to be safe, I use a toner with a fair amount of alcohol in it, concentrating on any acne I might have. Washing the brush with a mild, antibacterial soap afterwards is also a good idea.
I can't recommend this product enough! It has changed my skincare regimine forever! The price is high, but I don't spend as much money on facials or peels anymore. My esthetician doesn't have to do as much pore extraction either. She was the one who first told me about the Clarisonic and recommends it to her clients.
Lastly, a lot of my (skeptical) friends wonder how good this is. The brush is made by the same people who made the Sonicare toothbrush. I also have a Sonicare toothbrush, and the sonic technology is what makes all the difference. This is NOT just gimmic. Five stars!!

Smoother, clearer, softer skin! It's worth every penny!, October 16, 2006
This review is from: Clarisonic- Waterproof Skin Care System, 1 System (Health and Beauty)
Facts: I have sensitive combination skin. I cannot use strong chemicals or abrasive cleansers without causing a major skin calamity. I am a mid-30's female that is outdoors regularly. I have been using the Clarisonic MD for a little over a month now and I love it!
CONS:
Obviously the cost of the unit as well as the cost of the cleanser.
I do still get small pimples now & then.
PROS:
With just over 1 month of use (morning and evening)with the regular brush my skin is visibly clearer and smoother.
The dark spots on my face (from birth control pills & sun) have faded significantly.
Fine lines on my face have become softer and even non-existent in some areas.
The few small pimples I do get clear up much faster than before (1-2 days).
The cleanser that comes with the unit is great, I alternate using that with an inexpensive gentle non-chemical cleanser (St Ives).
I havent had any increase in oil at all. In fact the opposite - I sometimes need to use a very light moisturizer, but usually nothing at all except eye cream.
My HUSBAND uses it after shaving - and just like the video shows - it works for him too! No red bumps on his neck from shaving! He also has noticed that pimples heal faster with just one use of the brush.
I have started using it on the back of my hands and have noticed a difference in dark spots and and wrinkling there as well.
I actually enjoy washing my face with the clarisonic brush rather than dread the nightly ordeal. It feels GOOD! I was nervous about the cost at first but no longer doubt this little gem is worth every penny!
***UPDATE 07/29/08
I have now been using the Clarisonic for 2 years. I still use it a few times each week, more if I am having issues with breakouts from using sunscreen or peeling from too much sun. This little machine has continued to make a big difference with my skin and I dont regret the purchase one bit. The company Clarisonic is also great to work with - there was a recall on the unit due to the handle overheating and they notified me through the mail (I had registered). They sent a prepaid box and label and sent my replacement unit as soon as the tracking showed I has placed the old one in the mail (so the old and new crossed in the mail). They also included 2 new brush heads (which arent cheap!) for free and they now have a "delicate" head that I love love love.

A wonderful little invention, February 23, 2006
This review is from: Clarisonic- Waterproof Skin Care System, 1 System (Health and Beauty)
I'm in my 40's, with very oily skin. While I rarely get pimples anymore, I often get those under-the-skin bumps, and I have had blackheads since my teens. Thousands of dollars over the years have gone to purchase products that *swore* they would get rid of my blackheads...they all lied.
As of three weeks ago, the Clarisonic Skin Care Brush entered my life. My face has never looked better!! Sure, it takes care of the daily dirt and old makeup...it also draws out the old dirt and clogged material that's been in my pores for who knows how long. I had a couple of enlarged pores...they are greatly minimized. The 2 lines that I do have on my face are my "laugh lines"...they are minimized, I do believe, because my face is so clean that daily makeup doesn't get trapped there anymore.
Now, this hasn't happened quite overnight...it's not miraculous...but almost. In three weeks, I have gone from contemplating laser skin resurfacing to being very pleased with my complexion. This skin care brush is not inexpensive, but boy, is it ever worth it!!

Silky Radiant Complexion Achieved, October 31, 2006
This review is from: Clarisonic- Waterproof Skin Care System, 1 System (Health and Beauty)
The Clarisonic Skin Care Brush is by far the best beauty equipment you will ever invest in. I have been an Aesthetician for 12 years and I have never seen a product work this good. Some may believe the $195.00 is a bit pricey but to be quite honest on average my clients spend $65.00 for a standard European facial. You now have the luxury of the same equipment professionals use. If you like the feel of microdermabrassion or would like to achieve similar results at home, use your Clarisonic Brush along with La Mer's Refining facial. The facial uses pure diamond powder and polished sea quartz. In my professional opinion it is nearly the same as a microdermabrassion treatment. You will be amazed at the results achieved using this method!

This is THE SKIN CARE BRUSH, May 20, 2007
This review is from: Clarisonic- Waterproof Skin Care System, 1 System (Health and Beauty)
I was looking at the Zeno device for pimples when I read the "customers who bought this also bought that" thing. And that in this case was Clarisonic. I've been using this maker's toothbrush Sonicare it's been 2 years and am extremely satisfied. When I read all the positive reviews I just knew I had to have it. My skin is acne prone and extremely sensitive. In the beginning I had a few breakouts but I persevered and made sure I was using astringent to clean up any debris left on my skin's surface by the brush. It's been 2 months I've been using it twice daily for 3 minutes at a time on face and neck total. My skin never looked so good and clean. Rosascea? Gone. Plus it absorbs 60% more of any cosmetic product you might use. And that's a plus as well. I just love it.
