Out with the Old,
This review is from: Understanding Wood: A Craftsman's Guide to Wood Technology (Hardcover)I've been using this book for years, and it has come in handy, providing a lot of useful information over the years. But now I'm looking for something more up-to-date. The Encyclopedia of Wood comes from the United States Department of Agriculture and is the best wood technology reference around. And it's a better bargain...a newer book at an old-fasioned price!

Out with the old? Has wood changed since this is written? Has the way of wood updated itself somehow? No. Wood is still wood and the wise woodworker does well to do their best to understand it's ways. I think this is a viable, very well thought out text, which will continue to stand the test of time, just like wood has.
