5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT Quality, especially for the price!, April 12, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: RioRand SJ4000 Helmet Sports DV 1080P Full HD H.264 12MP Car Recorder Diving Bicycle Action Camera 1.5 Inch LCD 140° Wide Angle Lens Outdoor Waterproof G-Senor Motorbike Camcorder DVR (White) (Camera)
The opposite goes for the manual however :-) This very sharp camera doesn't have the same selection of resolutions or frame rates as the GoPro, BUT it comes with more accessories and other features that GoPro doesn't have: smile and face recognition, stabilization, "car mode," motion detection trigger. I love that since it will automatically start recording on your bike. Remember to first set the length of time so you don't get lots of short clips. Also, under Sharpness, Soft and Sharpest are reversed in the menu. You want to be in Sharpest so it won't be over sharpened. GREAT Present for the kids instead of a GoPro! Remember to email them your color preference. Got it in 7 days from China.

Hey, I was curious, do you know if the sharpness setting actually effects the video mode? I heard it only acted on photo mode.

Hmmm ... I think it does ... but will have to test that.

Hey! Do you know if it is possible to have a longer recording time in motion detection. So for example: If something moves it should record for a minute or so.

Thanks

I haven't tried it, but it should.

I know this might sounds stupid but are you sure you have a RioRand brand? I bought the same one you're reviewing and it doesn't appear to have a car mode for automatic recording :(
