This review is from: The Power of Silence (Audio CD)This is a very complex recording. There is background sounds of didgeridoos and other tonal instruments, along with somone (probably Almine) doing some kind of sing/chanting, someone (probably Almine) whispering words or something barely heard and not really discernable, and then the main voice of Almine giving the teaching with echo effect. Now overall this composite of sounds does get your attention.
What concerns me about this recording is the whispering going on. It sounds like speaking in tongues as or if they think they are speaking a magical language. However I've been around people who have made utterances that are 'tongues' and you can't be sure whether what they are saying is a blessing, a curse, or just jibberish. The only ready reference I have on this topic (if indeed it is like tongues) is here:
1 Corinthians 14:2NIV For anyone who speaks in a tongue [a] does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit.
So I'm not saying that this whispering is bad and I'm not looking for comments to quote me other verses to say this one is wrong. I am using this illustration to say that if you are going to use a [whispering] tongue as part of a ***teaching*** then you should either explicitly explain (as part of the recording track(s) itself) what you are doing and/or do it loud enough that people can tell whether it's words and thereby make a decision as to whether to continue to listen to it or not. At least on Almines other recordings such as Mystical Keys to Ascended Mastery and The Power of Self-Reliance she does not use this whisper stuff. And of all three of these recordings the Power of Self Reliance sounds the best but it is Mystical Keys To Ascended Mastery that has the most meaningful message.
I cannot say whether Almine is a 'master' or not. (In fact I don't think any such title is helpful because it tends to assume authority of some kind. Authority leads to hierarchies of control which tend to suppress freedom and full human potential. Everyone should be the master of their own life, that is enough.) But I can say that other folks in the metaphysical or spiritual realm who have the real stuff include the Sufi Hazrat Inayat Khan The Heart of Sufism and Tiwa/Ute medicine person Joseph Rael Being and Vibration In both those latter examples you have very deep realizations and teachings that are linked to a clear and present lineage on the planet that you can trace and explore.
If you were drawn to Almine because of 'Toltec' teachings then there is no deeper book on Toltec than this one Burning Water: Thought and Religion in Ancient Mexico
