This review is from: Targus Slim Case for iPad 3 iPad Cases (Personal Computers)I purchased the charcoal colored Targus Slim Case on a whim while visiting an electronics store in another city. I had my new iPad in hand and really wanted to protect my investment from scratches, etc. I had seen the case on Amazon but to my dismay hadn't read any of the reviews. I'm thrice sorry. First, because I didn't read the reviews, second because I didn't buy it from Amazon where I could have easily returned it, and third, I'm sorry I bought it at all.
I have all of the problems reported by previous reviewers for example: Not only doesn't the magnetic lock work properly, it causes my new iPad to continually cycle sleep/awake. It is as if the magnet is close in position/strength, but off just enough that any slight movement in the cover causes the sleep/awake state to cycle. I must turn this function off when using this case.
Additional problems I've encountered:
I've used the case for exactly three days and the cover is already becoming loose (relaxing of the 'hinge?) to the point where it doesn't always stay aligned with the display exposing corners to possible damage. This isn't extreme yet, but I can only see it increasing as I use the case.
Attempting to use the case in the low stand position simply doesn't work. Any pressure on the face of the iPad causes a shift away from my fingers which soon results in the collapse of the 'stand'.
Using the high angle stand position results in an unstable base. Apparently this is caused by flex in both the 'bottom' of the stand and the elastic 'hinge'. This flex is increasing as I use the case in the high angle position. It is already extremely annoying and I suspect it may soon become unusable for anything that requires touching the display.
The only positive thing I can say about the case is it looks good. Unfortunately, good looks isn't enough, it must also be functional. If I can return it I will. Otherwise I'll chalk it up to experience and go elsewhere.
