One Flaw I'd Like Fixed,
This review is from: The Gourmet Bookshelf Wall Mount Pot Rack with Grid (Kitchen)
My kitchen is small with limited cabinet space. After looking at other pot racks, I opted for this model because it matched my decor best and provided ample room for cookbooks and pots.
The builder who constructed homes in our neighborhood was new and rather idiotic from my viewpoint. He used clearance/discontinued materials, especially for door and window sizes, but he also decided to shortcut by making the studs every 24 inches on center so hanging anything that's not exactly two feet wide is a hassle. We've learned to bypass this issue by putting up wide chair rail and attaching it to the studs and then hanging things like cabinets, towel racks and my pot rack on the chair rail. If you have a home that is similarly constructed, you may have to do this.
Once installed, I found the pot rack to be not only visually appealing but also extremely handy. Pots and pans are close by and I don't have to dig through cupboards trying to find the right pan and lid anymore. Lids are stored in the cupboard, but the pans hang neatly out the way.
This brings me to my one complaint--the wire rack that serves as your cookbook holder. I did have cookbooks stored up there originally, but gave up. The hooks get in the way, so you try to place a cookbook, but the hook sticks up a bit causing things to be uneven. Instead, I moved our aluminum stock pots (used for homebrewing) to that shelf because they fit and they are lightweight.
Over time, however, I noticed that the shelf was warping. Though it is supposed to be heavy-duty, it doesn't hold the weight of my cast iron skillets without bowing. I've had to learn to be extremely careful about how I hang my pans because there is no middle support bar to offer center support to the wire shelf. If you have heavy pots and pans, I definitely would recommend finding a stronger pot rack or using the rack for your smaller, less dense items.
