4.0 out of 5 stars YOU HAVE...SUCH A LOVELY THROAT.....AGHHHHHHHH!, September 18, 2008
This review is from: Bluebeard (1944) (DVD)
John Carradine is excellent in one of his most complex roles as a artist-puppeteer driven to strangle his models. Director Ulmer does wonders with cheap sets and lighting to create the atmosphere of 19th-century Paris. Actress Jean Parker is equally fine as the sister of one of Bluebeard's victims. This is probably poverty-row company PRC'S best HORROR movie. Only the upbeat cheesy music score takes it down a notch. Don't know what they were thinking but better to play SINISTER music then that happy s&^%!
Worth a watch and always kudos to John Carradine who always had a soft spot for HORROR films. My kinda guy :)

Strangle his models? Kind of self-defeating, but I'm all keen to see what they did with the cheap sets and cheesy music. Sounds like a MUST SEE.

What constantly amazes me about my Amazon friends is the list of oddball movies and books to which I'm introduced. Good stuff Clint. Although, I'm not sure if I could go for a 1944 horror flick with bad music. That's like Nosferatu with carnival music.

Hey, you know I like old type of classic movies. I heard of this, just haven't seen it. I was planning to see Inside tonight...

Oh yeah, you demanded it CB and you will get it...
My great horror finale list:
-Invasion Of The Body Snatchers(the scream from Donald Sutherland!)
-Burnt Offerings(pretty boring... but the look on Karen's face at the end *shivers*)
-Wicker Man(the original of course, although Cages acting IS scary in the remake)
-Black Christmas(so creepy)
-Who Can Kill A Child(I'm obsessed with this rarely seen Spanish masterpiece)
...Friday The 13th's scene with Jason erupting from the water is GREAT too, and of course, Sleepaway Camp!
