Solid Biography, But Where's the Fact Checker?,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Robert Redford: The Biography (Hardcover)
I found this to be a mostly intelligently written and researched biography of a major figure in American film. Although this book was apparently in the works for many years, the care that presumably went into the writing did not extend to the fact checking. Take, for example, the discussion of the making of "The Way We Were." 20th Century Fox is identified as the studio behind the film (it was Columbia). Callan also mentions that Ryan O'Neal was originally offered Redford's role in that film, but that the "failure" of "What's Up, Doc?" removed him from consideration. "Doc" was far from a failure---it was one of biggest hits of 1972.
